Some upsets coming into the State Tournament.
A very strong field!
Who will win?

Grand Rapids vs Burnsville - 1st Quarterfinal
OMG vs East Grand Forks - 2nd Quarterfinal

Woodbury vs Cloquet - 3rd Quarterfinal
Elk River vs Wayzata - 4th Quarterfinal

5 of the same teams that were in the State PeeWee tourney 2 years ago -

Grand Rapids, East Grand Forks, Woodbury, Cloquet and Wayzata

New teams from 2 years ago - Burnsville, Osseo Maple Grove and Elk River

I wouldn't bet against East Grand Forks. Not a real strong regional, but they made it through. The small guys with nothing to lose... of course the same could be said of Cloquet and Grand Rapids. I think EGF probably can build on a win against Roseau who beat them out in both the Minnesota Hockey district and VFW district.....

That would be nice to see Jake Flemming face his former team (OMG) somewhere in the tourney. I wouldn't have bet that Elk River would of made it to state, but from what I have seen thru District play he out coached every team he played. He didn't stick to 1 plan, he adjusted to the opponents style of play. Good Luck to Jake and the Elks

State tourney Picks and break down. Not that anyone cares I got it wrong most of the year!!!

Grand Rapids vs Burnsville - 1st Quarterfinal
Will be one of the best games of the weekend, and one of the hardest to pick. Grand Rapids was tough all year but had a weak schedule compared to the Battle tested Burnsville squad who got better and better as the year went on. I am going to give the nod to Burnsville.

OMG vs East Grand Forks - 2nd Quarterfinal
This should be an easier pick, the obvious choice is OMG however East grand somehow managed to go 1-2 in pool play and yet make it to the tourney. pick: OMG

Woodbury vs Cloquet - 3rd Quarterfinal
Tourney favorites Woodbury can score goals, period. And as they showed in districts and regions they can play defense as well. Cloquet is a team that can put them on the board as well very powerful offensivly, but has the occasional break down turns close games into runners. Pick: Royals

Elk River vs Wayzata - 4th Quarterfinal
Wayzata is a powerful team the has great goaltending and fantastic D. The question is can they score when it counts... coming out of the south region does not give us a good read on that. Elk River is the hottest team coming into the tourney is the sexy upset pick. They were up and down all year, and have made a fantastic run from the D10 tourney on.
Pick: Trojans

Semi's

Burnsville vs OMG
Things get more complicated here, I think that Burnsville is the better of the teams although OMG has a better record. This is feel alone, I go; Blaze

Woodbury vs Wayzata
Trojans vs Royals matchup is very interesting indeed, The high flying scoring of the Royals or the D and goaltending of the Trojans. D wins championships and in state games, the teams with the best G and the best team D usually wins. Wayzata.

Finals
Trojans vs Blaze

Wow great tourney already... Not sure who will win, my favorite has already lost

I think I give it to Trojans... no reason just a hunch

My Guess:

Grand Rapids wins over Burnsville
OSMG wins over EGF
Woodbury over Cloquet
Wayzata over ER

Watch it will be Burnsville, EGF, Cloquet and ER in the semi- finals since I guessed the other way.

Any way it works out a lot of really good teams filling up this tournament in 2010.

That tournament schedule would have looked a lot better had Duluth East and Roseau made it in. OMG & Woodbury will roll in Quarters.

Duluth East is an excellent team, possibly roll in the VFW. Roseau will be there next year with that pool of young talent.

Seeing most of the team's play this year and beating three and losing three times to Bv and not seeing OMG, Wbry ,EGF and watching the Elk's. My guess from a parent is Grand Rapids with the size and speed. 5-2 Grand R over Woodbury in the ship!!!!!!!!!!!! B.V beats Wayzata for 3rd in o.t. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS THAT MADE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We didn't this year  :?:

East Grand Forks - GAA 2.78

I personally feel GAA is a worthless stat, if you see 60 shots a night a 4 GAA is good, if you see 15 a 2 is really bad...

That being said, i havent seen every one of the teams play but i'd have to say (from the games i've seen) the Grand Rapids goalie is the best of the group, ER has a solid tender too. Wazata's goalie is huge, and pretty solid, fights the puck a little but still gets the job done.

If you cant make the tourney tune in and watch it

That's sweet that there broadcasting the games... But I guess that's one of the perks of playing bantam A hockey in the state of hockey.

The schedule will be same as last year for game coverage: Quarter finals, Semi Finals, Third Place, and Championship. For a total of 8 live games we will be broadcasting from Richfield.

Consolation games will not be broadcast unless otherwise stated as that is subject to change and a last minute decision based upon demand. Thanks for your support hockey fans! We are excited for another great hockey tourney!!!

Is there ways for families to buy dvd's of the broadcast? Or get copies of the radio broadcast?

Good way for that company to make some additional revenue!!!!
