Between Marshall, Krause, Nelson, Fulton, and Gardiner. Who has the most potential out of all of them?

Gardiner from what I saw this weekend

Gardiner had an impressive week. But I should probably ad Bjudstad to the list and it's most potential after high school.

Nelson looks like he needs to add some weight. His frame looks a bit light. Krause and Gardiner look like they have solid frames that just need maturation. But the height of Nelson, Krause and Gardiner is such an advanatge with their skills. Marshall definitely needs to gain 20-25 pounds on his 165 pound frame, or he will get tossed like a rag doll. Fulton plays bigger than 5"11"..

However, if Marshall gains the size he needs, I feel he has the best potential, because his skills from that d-man position are fantastic. I think he's only 5'10", too, and I am not sure how much taller he will get, if any. We saw how similar skills got Nick Leddy a first-round selection.

I would be curious as to how people feel Marshall compares to Aaron Ness at the same stages.... Ness left after his junior year, and Marshall did everything in the tourney as well as Ness did, except Class A versus AA... They are awfully similar in size, too.

IMO, Ness was way better than Marshall in the D zone. As far as with the puck, I think there very similar.

I belive that Nelson has the most potential because of his skill set and height. All Nelson needs to do is build some muscle, he had more skill with the puck than any other I saw this weekend. He also has a nice shot. Gardiner has great potential to, just needs to find the skating treadmill. If he does that, I could see him having a nice future.

All the above players are great and I wish them all luck in the future

I suppose I should add Benik and Skalbech to the list. Also a sleeper is Tyler Heinonen from Delano. Any others I'm missing?

From what I saw this weekend in terms of potential, you've got to give some credit to the 14 year old Hudson Fasching from Apple Valley.

I'm talking about juniors and seniors under the radar. He'll be under the radar in a couple years. There was plenty of freshmans and sophmores that have great potential. But let's talk about them in a few years and keep this thread going as juniors and seniors

How are these kids under the radar? The only one under the radar is a Delano kid. Everyone listed here is committed D1 besides the Delano kid and Fulton, who will be soon IMO, how are they under the radar? If we are talking under the radar though this Delano kid did put up 44 goals and had 71 total points according to mnhockeyhub.com. Yes its a very weak schedule put 44 goals is a lot, but in terms of POTENTIAL I am not sure if he compares to these other kids.

Under the radar as in under the radar from a NHL standpoint and everyone elses views of them. Get it?

Next time be more specific, but how would Gardiner be under the radar?

I missused the term under the radar. It just means people and scouts are watching them and by that I mean people are watching them and their progression. People are going to be watching Gardiner as he matures more at the next level. So he's still under the radar.

He will get drafted in the first 3 rounds... Not under the radar...

I think if you asked an NHL scout who has the most upside, he'd say Brock Nelson.

That's an assumtion. He's a good player but so are all players at a d1 level. Your truley not getting my point

If Brock puts on some weight, he will be a very good prospect. Similar points to what Oshie had his senior season at Warroad. The Sioux landed a Stud in Nelson. Also I would like to add that Derek Forbort probably has the most potential out of all of these kids. He went to Ann Arbor but if he would've stayed at East he would've been Mr. Hockey.

With the exception of the Lakeville North game i didn't think Gardiner looked that impressive.

Gardiner is projected to be a top 2 round NHL draft pick. Thats under the radar??

Top 10...My opinion of the best college players. After that all scouts are doing is pure speculation of what a player might turn out to be.

I think Holl could be an awesome defenseman for the U of M. Obviously Marshall has amazing offensive ability, but look where that got Ness at the U of M. Anybody got any ideas where Rau is going to go to college? Him putting up 80+ points in that schedule is impressive. Any ideas where he is going to go? I would love to see him playing for Dean Blais after 1-2 years in the juniors.

I agree...he seems like a one-way player

I thought Gardiner was pretty good.. Can't do it all by yourself!! His line mates and the over all team play was terrible from the skippers..


One guy that no one has said anything about is Morin from Breck. I think he is really underrated and will have a great college career at CC. He isn't NHL draft material but i liked the way he played and could potentially be a solid free agent pick after 4 years of college. Little grit, skill, and lots of speed!!

WOW, you really like Justin Holl. But is he #1 or #3?

Boys you must factor in where these guys are going to play hockey in the next few years.

Marshall = U of M, very nice player but I see him going the Ness route.
Krause = UMD, will become a very good player, Huge potential here if the kid keeps working hard.
Nelson = Sioux, biggest upside in my opinion and going to the right school to make him a bonafide top end NHL player much like TJ Oshie.
Fulton = uncommitted? Like to see him at CC would have a great 4 years at CC, better than Tyler Johnson (a very good player) who is having a good season at CC. Would fit their style of play very well.
Gardiner = U of M, not a school to go to right now and will fizzle out to an average player if current staff remains in place.

My number one is Brock Nelson followed by Adam Krause which might change but I like their size, hands, vision, work on the ice.

Are you saying that other than a hat trick against a poor team, Gardiner has the most potential because he can go nowhere but up?

From what I saw out of Ness in HS he was the laziest D and thought he was a forward first.
As for the top prospect I think it has to go to Brock Nelson.

Prochno? All O no D. He doesn't belong on the list.

Hesketh? Understand he was drafted. Could be a pine rider with Badgers unless he can gain a better mental edge. The speed of the WCHA will be a huge challenge for him.
