There are still tickets available for the Frozen Four at Ridder. How can this be? We have #1, #2, and #3 in a tourney in a great venue. The home team is in it. We are arguably the hot bed of girls hockey in the entire world. Tickets are cheap $40 (seat back), $35 (adult bench), $30 (Student) that is a ticket for ALL the games. Gophers have former Ms. Hockeys and the best female goalie in the world. Minnesota vs UMD is primetime Friday night.

How is this not sold out (just checked and goods seats are still out there)? Would be cool if we could get every Girls High School team to fill up Ridder and show the NCAA the passion in Minnesota for the sport.

Any one out there have the Minnesota girls that are on the rosters for these two tourneys and where they went to HS handy. Would be nice to see a list, seems to me that there were some that went to Norwich last year.

You can pre-purchase tickets for the Women's D3 tournament - $20/adult for an all sessions pass. Seniors and students are $10. If you can only attend Friday or Saturday it's $10/adult and $5 Seniors/students.

http://gustavustickets.universityticket ... .asp?id=40 You'll need to log-in prior to purchasing tickets.

I believe the games will be webcast and you can find the link on the Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey link. Game times are 3:30 and 7 pm both days.

Respectfully DISAGREE.

Anyone who watched Alexandria play in the 2008 State tournament will remember their goaltender who is now playing at Gustavus.

I may be able to get to the 8PM game on Friday. Can you buy tickets at door? I have a daughter (who is begging to go) participating in ADV 16 tryouts this weekend and the tryouts somewhat conflict with the timing of the games. I checked online and can buy the package but with timing will only be able to get to the 8PM Fri game.

Can someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks!

According to the ticket office you can buy single game tickets on Friday and they will be sold at the door if they are still available.

Thanks for posting player lists!

@ Pond Hockey no offense to the gusties but have you seen Noora play? She is a Kazmir finalist in her first year. Reminds me a bit of the year Stauber had when he won the Hobey. I don't care much for the way everything worked out with Grogan but if you've seen her play, wow she is good.

I've seen Grogan play. Have you watched Justice? She's amazing! She's a stands on her head to make a save goalie.

Both of them are sure to be tested on Friday night so we'll see how they do...

I have to agree with royals dad, Raty for the U of M has had an amazing year. For a freshman goalie to be a top 3 finalist for the Patty Kaz award is pretty amazing in itself.

Good luck to both the Gophers and the Gusties this weekend!

@Pond - She is very good no doubt I saw her in HS and I think (not 100%) at the Peterson goalie camp. Admittedly I have not seen her in college, only saw a few D3 games this year. I would say Grogan and Billadeau are the best two MN Girls HS goalies I have seen and Raty seems to be in a different league than those two. I also watched quite a bit of the USA Olympic tryouts and believe Raty would have been the top one there.

It is very cool that we will be able to get in a car and check out both this weekend! Would be even better if both play well and we get an in state sweep.

Only 2000 fans at UM vs UMD game. WHY?

Posted: Sun Mar 21, 2010 1:26 pm
by hockeyfan21
Probable reasons why

-Spring break
-Other sports
-Some people enjoy watching their team/daughter play girls hockey but otherwise don't enjoy watching it (same as other womens sports sadly)
-Lack of advertising

When I was at Mankato it was packed and had to pay to watch the boys play, free and empty to watch the women play.

I think you can add:

-being on TV; and
-the price of tickets was pretty high.

Great games all weekend. Anyone who went got their monies worth. I don't know how you can complain about paying $40 (+$10 to park) for 3 games when we pay $7 to get into a JV/V High School game?

The Cornell vs Mercyhurst game was probably my favorite to watch, Cornell just out worked them. I think with the Olympians off the UMD and Cornell teams the U was the best team there but couldn't get enough shots through UMD's defense.

There were not many girls HS players at the games but I knew of most of the ones I did see, more quality than quantity I guess. The most girls I saw from any association was WBL there was a couple groups of 4 or 5.

I have to admit that I only am a womens hockey fan because I have two daughters who play, however, with the speed and tenacity that we saw this weekend it was fun hockey to watch. The games were all close 1 OT and 1 triple OT.

It is a bit of a bummer that it wasn't full but it was still a great weekend of hockey. How was the D3 Tourney in St Peter?

I drove down to catch the championship game. ($12 for a ticket and free parking!) It wasn't close and Amherst won 7-2 but it was a good opportunity to see 2 top D3 teams from out East. It was good hockey. Many of the girls aren't as big or fast as the D1 group (although some were D1 quality) but it was very good and physical hockey. I think D3 hockey is a good opportunity for girls to scratch their competitive itch and go to a good school that fits them. I know more than a few girls that passed on D1 hockey and chose instead a school that was a better fit for them (with or without D3 hockey). Playing D1 sports is very demanding of a student's time and some girls have different priorities.

Like most things in life, it is not one size fits all. It is wonderful that players have post-HS options like D-I, D-III, and even club. :)
