Since you think they need to be realigned, any suggestions on what you think they should be?

By changing them you're going to have to change some other ones as well so let's see what you've got. If these sections are so horrible, please...show me something better.

A few years ago I put together some new sections. I split the state in half. AA and A. Class AA was comprised of big schools and good programs. Class A was comprised of small schools and big schools with bad programs. Some decent programs had to end up in A. Then I put the sections together strictly by location. Some ended up stacked, but oh well. Class A is dreadful but it would allow new faces to burst on the scene and allow some kids to get a taste of winning. These are my dreams sections:

1AA
Albert Lea
Hastings
Mankato East
Mankato West
New Prague
Red Wing
Rochester Century
Rochester John Marshall
Rochester Lourdes
Rochester Mayo

2AA
Andover
Anoka
Buffalo
Elk River
Little Falls
Rogers
Sauk Rapids
St. Cloud Apollo
St. Cloud Cathedral
St. Cloud Tech

3AA
Apple Valley
Burnsville
Eagan
Eastview
Lakeville North
Lakeville South
Rosemount
South St. Paul
St. Thomas Academy
Woodbury

4AA
Cretin-Derham Hall
Forest Lake
Hill-Murray
Mahtomedi
Mounds View
Roseville
St. Paul Johnson
Stillwater
Tartan
White Bear Lake

5AA:
Blaine
Breck
Centennial
Champlin Park
Coon Rapids
Maple Grove
Osseo
Robbinsdale Armstrong
Totino-Grace
Wayzata

6AA:
Academy of Holy Angels
Benilde-St. Margaret's
Blake
Bloomington Jefferson
Eden Prairie
Edina
Hopkins
Minnetonka
Mound-Westonka
Orono

7AA:
Cloquet
Duluth Denfeld
Duluth East
Duluth Marshall
Grand Rapids
Hermantown
Hibbing
International Falls
Virginia

8AA:
Alexandria
Bemidji
Brainerd
East Grand Forks
Fergus Falls
Moorhead
Roseau
Thief River Falls
Warroad

I know right. But I went geographically and that's what I came up with. After looking at that, some might reconsider another realignment.

Here are a few things they could do:
Put Wayzata back in 5AA
Put Burnsville back in 3AA
Put Forest Lake in 4AA

Yes, it's done every two years, but they did it before this past year. So nothing new until a year from now.

I would suggest getting Burnsville and Jefferson into the 1AA section...I think they need to put some tougher competition in there and make those teams beat tougher teams to get to State. Other options would be Apple Valley, Eagan, Rosemount, or Eastview. Somehow strengthen up section 1AA

One example...move Burnsville in and take a Lakeville school out.

And have the two Lakeville schools in two different AA sections? That makes a lot of sense.

Because that's where they actually belong. If not in 4AA, then 5AA.

Your 7AA is terrible. Lets just disqualify northern teams from the tournament all together.

During the Tournament, I was told second hand by someone who is actually involved in the process of section alignments that "major" changes will happen next review period. Nothing specific was mentioned, but I have my suspisions.

Sarcasm. His 7AA would turn three possible northern berths into one.

I could be wrong but haven't they done it after the past two years?

I thought it was every 3 years that they updated sections, not 2 like some of you are saying. I also thought this offseason they were due for an update. Could be wrong on that though.

I know two years ago there were some big moves, and after last year the only move was Anoka from 7AA to 5AA i believe so i do think they are do for an update

Nope. The big switch was before 07-08. Nothing happened before 08-09, except maybe some changes in co-ops, which they will re-evaluate any time a switch happens. They had a realignment this past offseason, but like you said, there were very few changes.

I am very sure they do it every 2 years, and this is not one of the years they redo them.
