Hey anybody out there know the results, scorers, and all that good stuff on the Great 8 games that started last night? Been looking all over online and cannot find anything. Maybe I am looking in the wrong spot.

After all the hockey expert opinions expressed on this forum,

the section 4 domination at the all-star tourney must have come as yet another surprise

(much like Hill's dominant state semifinal play over Minnetonka a couple weeks ago).

Maybe the real surprise should be:

the "vastly superior" sections 6 and 2 each managed to win a single game over the weekend

(at least they fared better than section 5).

Well, now we know why you are the exiled one ...

Except for the State Championship which is all that anyone remembers. Kind of like Stanley Cup vs. All Star Game, Super Bowl vs. Pro Bowl, etc.

I didn't make picks for the State Tournament. I made picks for the NCAA Hockey Tournament though... and they were terrible!!

I fully admit my Great 8 picks were lucky, but notice that I didn't just get the winner right, I got all of the top four!

Are they going to make an "all star" team out of this?

They will make up Team Minnesota with the players from the Great Eight to play in the America's Showcase in Pittsburgh, PA, formerly known as the Chicago Showcase, played in Illinois. The Team Minnesota roster has not been posted anywhere yet The Showcase will be held from April 14th through April 18th.

Check out www.FollowThePuck.com to see how Team Minnesota did the last eight years in the Showcase.

I was under the impression that they are not going to the show case this year. Rather they are going to play in a tournament set up in minnesota in Plymouth the week of april 23,24, 25. the tournament would be made up fo the minnesota team from the great 8 along with a 92 team selected from the advance 18's last week and 6 other teams.

Well, you are apparently right. There is NOTHING on the MinnesotaHockey.org site that would indicate that but Team Wisconsin and Team Michigan have info on the Minnesota Showcase. The only spot that I could find that Team Minnesota was involved was from the Stillwater Gazette.

The teams involved are high school seniors from Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, and Minnesota plus a Minnesota U-18 team (juniors too old for Select 17s and too young for the Great Eight). It does not give the other teams involved.

According to the Ted Brill brochure, they are sendig a team to the Minnesota High School Senior Showcase (see page 2). Looks like a great 8 team and the Minnesota Select 18 team are participating.

I see they listed the advanced 18 team on the minnesota hockey web site. I have not seen anything on the great 8 team that is also to particapate in the minnesota show case. Has any one seen the list of players.

the name "Minnesota Select 18" misleading. no tryouts only open to 18yr old juniors. Not really anything like Selects 15, 16 or 17.
I've seen a lot of posts about politics on many different teams or tourneys but nothing on this. how did the teams get picked? how do you have an under 18 team and not include seniors. or if its for juniors how do you not allow the 93s. how do you put together a competitive team and only use half a year?
something doesnt smell right.
