According to DNT Central / Denfeld will reamain in class A in hockey only. Is this correct ? I would think there enrollment would put them In 7AA. But paper said they would be moving to 7A since Central was in 7A. All other sports would be moving up.

I knew there was a possibility Denfeld wouldn't be forced up; looks like it's come to pass. While the enrollment figure of 1528 is large enough to put them in AA, there is an adjustment for free/reduced lunch; when we take the 30-40% free/reduced lunch rate at Denfeld/Central into account, their enrollment ends up being below the cutoff--by a decent margin, I might add.

I was kinda looking forward to seeing both Duluth schools in AA, so this is a bit unfortunate, but oh well; from a competitive standpoint it's probably better for Denfeld. 7A just got that much deeper, while Hermantown and St. Cloud Cathedral in 5A are probably very pleased they don't have to deal with Denfeld anymore.

Would have been nice to have another north team in 7AA. Id like to keep it a north section. But agree Denfeld / Central will be more competitive in 7A.
Was hoping they would get to state last year in 5A. Perhaps next year in 7A.
With that being said hope East continues to head to state in 7AA . Show teams like Elk River that 7AA is a northren section.

Congrats to Mr. Smalley and Mr. Randolph. Bad news on the single A for Denfeld was looking forward to them joining 7AA. Come on, step up boys!! :x :x :x
Denfeld, Marshall, Hermantown in 7AA would round out the section quite nice.
