There are two investigations currently under way in WBL on the head coach and his abuse of players and misuse of funds. Any comments?

Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and say that Tim Sager never abused anyone in his life.

As for misuse of funds, who knows.

As one of the most vocal WBL followers the past couple years, I can acknowledge that there has been a month-long investigation into the WBL boys hockey program. There are several allegations on the table, and it would not be prudent to discuss any matters due to data privacy acts the school district enforces.

As of about 9 p.m. Sunday, I was informed there was some breaking news RUMORS, that has been acknowledged by two people, but yet to be confirmed. I would believe that these rumors will be confirmed one way or another come Monday.

I have been approached by our fearless leader, KARL (East), as to my knowledge of the situation, and I informed him of all the details I could share, and between he and I, we will get the proper response public if the rumors are true.

Until then, I will not publicly share any of the details out of fairness to all involved.

Why has this website turned into a place to air dirty laundry? Or perhaps it is society cheering for failure rather than stepping up to the plate themselves and making things better.

My take on this is that there are going to be more changes/casualties to the whole athletic department at WBL Schools and this one probably got caught in the crossfire.

I don't see anything wrong with bringing up the fact that there is an investigation going on with a program (if true). People just need to be careful on speculating the reasons why. I'm sure, in due time, the results of that investigation will probably be made public and then we can discuss what those results mean (or don't mean).

Fair enough. However, once the investigation into whatever is complete, the icky stuff will find it's way on here and people will say WOW, why didn't you White Bear people stand up together as a group if you all knew this was going on.
I think let the change occur and move on.

It is a witch hunt - Sager abusing players, please there were parents and other coaches at the rink all of the time - it wouldnt be just Sager being investigated then. As far as money goes, I thought that either the team's parents or blueline club ran the checkbook. I could be wrong there.

The people of White Bear have spoken up for the last two years. This includes past and present players and parents. The A.D. refused to act on the allegations. (Perhaps a good old boy mentality) Now the Administation can not ignore what has been brought before them.

Enlighten me with these allegations , if something of substance could be presented maybe it wouldn't sound more like disgruntled parents.

I will not comment on all of the allegations, but believe me it is not just disgruntled parents! Hopefully we will be hearing something soon.

Stoppatch.... this is what has happened. Collectively, there have been multiple allegations that have warranted investigations that have been made by a group. I know for a fact that an investigation was to be conducted as I have had contact with the Superintendent and Principal informing me that there was one scheduled.

Unfortunately, we no longer live in a society of "innocent until proven guilty"...... It's "Guilty until you can clear your name".....

listen people, yes there are some parents stirring things up. i get it
your not happy the way your son is coached. i understand, but tim is a
good man. the bottom line is we are not as sucessful as we should be.
from the old salts that still live here, to our young men coming thru
a storied program this is not acceptable.we are a hockey town that prides
it's self on sucess. and it's not happenning so it's time for change. leave
the man alone, get rid of the whole staff, including jv. and bring someone in here that bleeds orange and black and is willing to check his igo at
the door,so we can get back to are common goal fo getting back to the state tmnt. this town deserves a title.

Where theres smoke theres usually fire...

With that being said, being a student of Sagers I couldnt see him ever abusing players. I played other sports other then hockey though so I havnt seen him in that element.

Sorry to dissapoint you mnhockeydadof2 but I have been watching the forum for awhile but since my boys are out of WBL hockey I have never felt the need to comment. I was brought into all of this just recently due to the fact that my boys played WBL hockey. Is this not an open forum??? With the rumors that are flying around WBL today, I think it's a proper topic.

Yes, this is an open forum...but as I am sure you know, a right to free speech does not mean one can say absolutely whatever one wants. So far, this thread is fine...but we need to be careful. False rumors and libel will be locked or deleted.

While I appreciate the concern, any worries about a person's identity should be directed to the moderator/admins.

Feel free to PM me with any concerns on how this thread, or this board more broadly, is being run.

As a final suggestion, realize that anything said on this thread by pro- or anti-Sager camps will likely be seen as a reflection on the entire group. Choose your words carefully.

Carry on.

It will be interesting to hear what all the fuss is about. We have heard for years that people in WBL want Sager gone. Most of the complaints have been because of the team's failures on the ice. They can't win a first round State Tournament game and they can't beat Hill-Murray any more. If people are coming at him solely on performance, I think that's a shame.

WBL has a strong hockey tradition and most programs would love to have the success they have had & continue to experience. There should be no shame in losing a state tournament game to obviously a quality team. Guiding your team through sections is a difficult task. Now I realize, that getting past the first round would have been nice for their program, but holding him over the fire for this isn't fair. Not sure how many times Sager has been the coach in these games either.

I realize HM has had the upper hand against WBL the past few years (and I have enjoyed every aspect of it  ) but let's be honest, HM has had the better talent of late. There have been numerous games in which a call or a bounce of the puck goes the other way & WBL fans leave happy. This may have slowed the "anti-Sager" campaign.

The other aspect is that WBL's feeder program appears to be experiencing a down cycle. I don't pretend to follow their program closely, but it doesn't appear that they are the major player in the state that they used to be. When a player or two continue to leave to play for your rival, it tends to make things that much for difficult for Sager.

As for any off-ice situations, I think coaches can take too much blame at times. Depending on the situation, parents & kids need to be held more responsible than a coach. If coaches were held responsible for actions of their players away from the playing surface, many coaches would be fired annually.

Perhaps there are other issues that may lead to Sager leaving. Who knows, a change in the WBL program may be needed at this time. If so, I suspect there will be a "honeymoon" effect and the program will feel rejuvinated. At some point this coach will beat HM and will even win a 1st round state tournament game someday. The parents will stand proudly thinking they played a role in this process. But as time goes on and parents become upset at this coaches decisions & style, a group will form to complain and discuss potential action to take. Thus the life of a high school hockey coach.

I can guarantee you, that if Sager gets fired, it won't be because of his coaching win/loss record.
