There are two investigations currently under way in WBL on the head coach and his abuse of players and misuse of funds. Any comments?

As for misuse of funds, who knows.
Exactly what i was thinking lolmulefarm wrote:Sounds like an old fashion witch hunt.
I don't see anything wrong with bringing up the fact that there is an investigation going on with a program (if true). People just need to be careful on speculating the reasons why. I'm sure, in due time, the results of that investigation will probably be made public and then we can discuss what those results mean (or don't mean).StoppatchFairplayHelmets0 wrote:Why has this website turned into a place to air dirty laundry? Or perhaps it is society cheering for failure rather than stepping up to the plate themselves and making things better.
My take on this is that there are going to be more changes/casualties to the whole athletic department at WBL Schools and this one probably got caught in the crossfire.
Fair enough. However, once the investigation into whatever is complete, the icky stuff will find it's way on here and people will say WOW, why didn't you White Bear people stand up together as a group if you all knew this was going on.muckandgrind wrote:I don't see anything wrong with bringing up the fact that there is an investigation going on with a program (if true). Enlighten me with these allegations , if something of substance could be presented maybe it wouldn't sound more like disgruntled parents.jesscarter wrote:The people of White Bear have spoken up for the last two years. This includes past and present players and parents. The A.D. refused to act on the allegations. (Perhaps a good old boy mentality) Now the Administation can not ignore what has been brought before them.
Stoppatch.... this is what has happened. Collectively, there have been multiple allegations that have warranted investigations that have been made by a group. I know for a fact that an investigation was to be conducted as I have had contact with the Superintendent and Principal informing me that there was one scheduled.StoppatchFairplayHelmets0 wrote:Fair enough. Well, every coach at this level is guilty of something...c'mon cut the guy some slack.Goldfishdude wrote:Stoppatch.... this is what has happened. Unfortunately, we no longer live in a society of "innocent until proven guilty"...... It's "Guilty until you can clear your name".....
maybe not the time nplace, but I'd worry about winning a first round game before seeking a title...baby stepslikeiseeit wrote:listen people, yes there are some parents stirring things up. i get it
your not happy the way your son is coached. i understand, but tim is a
good man. the bottom line is we are not as sucessful as we should be.
from the old salts that still live here, to our young men coming thru
a storied program this is not acceptable.we are a hockey town that prides
it's self on sucess. and it's not happenning so it's time for change. leave
the man alone, get rid of the whole staff, including jv. and bring someone in here that bleeds orange and black and is willing to check his igo at
the door,so we can get back to are common goal fo getting back to the state tmnt. this town deserves a title.
I totally agree PioneerPioneerprideguy wrote:It will be interesting to hear what all the fuss is about. We have heard for years that people in WBL want Sager gone. Most of the complaints have been because of the team's failures on the ice. They can't win a first round State Tournament game and they can't beat Hill-Murray any more. If people are coming at him solely on performance, I think that's a shame.
WBL has a strong hockey tradition and most programs would love to have the success they have had & continue to experience. There should be no shame in losing a state tournament game to obviously a quality team. Guiding your team through sections is a difficult task. Now I realize, that getting past the first round would have been nice for their program, but holding him over the fire for this isn't fair. Not sure how many times Sager has been the coach in these games either.
I realize HM has had the upper hand against WBL the past few years (and I have enjoyed every aspect of it) but let's be honest, HM has had the better talent of late. There have been numerous games in which a call or a bounce of the puck goes the other way & WBL fans leave happy. This may have slowed the "anti-Sager" campaign.
The other aspect is that WBL's feeder program appears to be experiencing a down cycle. I don't pretend to follow their program closely, but it doesn't appear that they are the major player in the state that they used to be. When a player or two continue to leave to play for your rival, it tends to make things that much for difficult for Sager.
As for any off-ice situations, I think coaches can take too much blame at times. Depending on the situation, parents & kids need to be held more responsible than a coach. If coaches were held responsible for actions of their players away from the playing surface, many coaches would be fired annually.
Perhaps there are other issues that may lead to Sager leaving. Who knows, a change in the WBL program may be needed at this time. If so, I suspect there will be a "honeymoon" effect and the program will feel rejuvinated. At some point this coach will beat HM and will even win a 1st round state tournament game someday. The parents will stand proudly thinking they played a role in this process. But as time goes on and parents become upset at this coaches decisions & style, a group will form to complain and discuss potential action to take. Thus the life of a high school hockey coach.
