Just curious to see what everyone thinks of this section.
Is it Minnetonka?
BSM have a strong chance?
How far does Hopkins fall?
North Metro, Buffalo, others have a chance?

Minnetonka looks to be very good. Benilde might be only team to challenge them.

IMO it will be a two team race Tonka and BSM (have added some key pieces, surprise).

Who is new to BSM?

I would have to agree. I think it will ultimately come down to these 2 teams. I'm sure Hopkins and North Metro will put up a fight, but I don't think any teams in this section will be able to knock off Tonka or Benilde.
Between Tonka and Benilde, I would say it will be a toss up.

Top 5-10 in her class, which is one of the best goalie classes I think we have had in MN. Maybe not the best top end wise, but it is deep!

Would be interested in hearing why you think they'll be pretty equal. Benilde lost 6 seniors to graduation, and all of them were experienced and effective. I would think it will be a real challenge to replace them with incoming 9th graders, even if they are very talented 9th graders (and word is they ARE very talented).
But right now I think most would say that Minnetonka should be the strong favorite in 6AA, with BSM still being a bit of an unknown. They'll get a big test right away in their first game against Edina on November 13th.

My reasoning is that it's really too early to make a prediction at this point.
I believe Minnetonka graduate 5-6 players as well, not sure the kind of impact they had. Also, when a school can legally recruit (i.e. BSM) I think they will always be a factor. They have solid goaltending like Minnetonka. Both teams have a D1 player (Burns and Ramsey).
BSM historically has played pretty well in sections even when they haven't been expected to. I do believe that top to bottom, Minnetonka is probably the more talented team. I think it's pretty evident in sport that sometimes being the more talented team on paper doesn't mean anything.
I'll wait until the end of January to pick my for sure section 6AA representative.

You don't need to give names, of course, but which associations are Benilde's talented freshmen coming from?

Watching Buffalo during off season tourneys proved to me they aren't someone to over look.
My sleeper for this section.

Don't count out Wayzata from surprising a few teams. Their new coach is highly motivated and from what I heard the team is very excited about their future.

I don't disagree. With the new coach, large numbers, young talent, high expectations, Wayzata should move up from their
#8 seed last year.
However, I'm not sure if they are ready to play with Minnetonka & BSM!

Wayzata had a strong 14UA team last season, no stars, but solid 1-15. Should provide for a much better HS team in a few seasons.

Interesting to note that senior Jordyn Burns of BSM will lead her No. 1-ranked girls soccer team in their quarterfinal matchup in the Class 1A State Tournament starting this evening. Jordyn was BSM's top scorer this season, netting 22 goals and 14 assists for 36 points in 19 games.
Returning junior hockey player Aly Hoffman is BSM's No. 4 scorer and incoming freshman Kelly Panneck (from Cooper) is No. 5. Nice to see all three of these girls doing so well in both sports.

Yikes, just saw in the paper this morning that BSM lost 0-1 to Chisago Lakes, despite outshooting them 20-4! OK, time to put away the cleats and sharpen the blades!

so how far down does Hopkins slide? Did they get any "new" players this year.
seems like everyone sees this as a two horse race.
Hopkins

Looks like the "experts" say they'll fall to 4th or 5th.....needless to say they won't be able to play with Minnetonka or BSM.

Minnetonka 2 BSM 1 in OT... I think this section is going to be a bit tougher for Minnetonka than expected.

I am going to go with BSM. They just seem to be getting better and better as the season goes on.

I would still have to say it's a toss up between Minnetonka and BSM... Don't really see any other teams posing a challenge. Minnetonka is averging about 4.5 goals a game while giving up on average 1 goal a game. BSM is averging just over 5 goals a game while giving up 1 goal a game. I do have to believe Minnetonka's schedule has been probably a little tougher considering the conference they plan in compared to BSM.
Minnetonka has 5 players with 20 points or more. BSM has 4 players with 20 points or more. Both teams have good goaltending... See what I am getting at...
However... I am going to go with Minnetonka for the section champs. They have been knocking at the door for a few years now and have some kids who have been through section play a few times now. I could see the game going to OT or many OTs...

I agree, if Benilde shows up they will give Tonka all they can handle.
