How is Woodbury going to look this year?

There won't be a David Eddy, Tony Pittman, or a Max Gaede this year to bury the puck. They'll have to rely on solid goaltending and taking care of the D zone first. I don't want to count them out just yet, as they have one of the best coaches in the state, Wes Bolin, behind the bench.
You heard correctly. I believe it was 8 to East Ridge, 5 to Woodbury, and 5 to private schools. I've heard of grumblings from kids who are Woodbury residents on East Ridge's football team. They say that if East Ridge never opened they would have gone to the state tournament as they feel that their team combined with Woodbury's would've been really good this year. Will there be a similar sentiment on the hockey team this year?StayAtHomeD wrote:I'm guessing they will be on the weak side (apologies to WB parents, nothing personal this is just my perception).
My perception is that most of the talent in Woodbury ended up on the East Ridge side of the split. The A Bantam team won the State Tourney last year and I thought I heard most lived in the ER side of Woodbury.
With only three kids returning with varsity experience, it might be a while before we can figure this question out. It might be a tough year for Wes Bolin and the Royals, but he seems to be energized by the challenge.BauerHockey34 wrote:who are going to be their star players?
Count them OUT...great coach or not if you dont have talent you cant win...just sayinCrashDaNET wrote:AgreedJust_Another_Fan wrote:It will definitely be a different style of Woodbury from what we have seen in the past. Eastridge vs Woodbury -
Advantage Eastridge..
(But with Wes Bolin as coach..Do NOT count out Woodbury)
That's funny, but not as funny as that team Stillwater sends out to the ice every week.youngblood08 wrote:Blue and White with a little lion on the front of one jersey.
There is a Wahlin family in Woodbury and in White Bear (related). I think everyone has heard of the Wahlin kid from White Bear, the Woodbury kid is a solid player but just lower profile.old goalie85 wrote:Is Wahlin from WBL playing with Woodbury this year? I see on another post his younger bro is playing for Woodbury B-A. If he is what a nice pick-up.
Turner, Pederson, Myers-Beck, Erickson, and Moore (G). Maybe Ignaszewski and Armstrong will also be good. Not to be Mr. Sour Grapes, but it would sure be nice to add Wegleitner, Herbert, Mader, Knight, Rodriguez, and Hyland, among others, to this fold.BauerHockey34 wrote:who are going to be their star players?
There you go talkin' chit chat again before the season starts. Focus on your 'mildcats' Happy GilmoreHappyHockeyFan wrote:Count them OUT...great coach or not if you dont have talent you cant win...just sayinCrashDaNET wrote:AgreedJust_Another_Fan wrote:It will definitely be a different style of Woodbury from what we have seen in the past. The Woodbury Wahlin is Dewey's son (for those of you who remember Dewey Wahlin with St. Paul Johnson in the early 80's - and a key member of the 1984 State Tournament team).WB6162 wrote:There is a Wahlin family in Woodbury and in White Bear (related). At least thier smart enough to wear shoes. What will the drama in WBL be this year? How's the coaching doing? I thought they ran him out of town over the summer? Looks like just alot of talk from WBL again.WB6162 wrote:That's funny, but not as funny as that team Stillwater sends out to the ice every week.youngblood08 wrote:Blue and White with a little lion on the front of one jersey.
Well at least they (Stillwater) got a coach who looks like he knows what he is doing behind the bench. That's funny, but not as funny as that team Stillwater sends out to the ice every week.
So how does the team the boosters picked for coach Hoosleey looking this year?youngblood08 wrote:At least thier smart enough to wear shoes. What will the drama in WBL be this year? From what I've heard, Jake Wahlin will be at Woodbury next year.XFactor wrote:Brandon Wahlin (from WBL) has a little brother named Jake who is amazing and yes he did go to Woodbury. He is living with Dewey now so he can play for the Woodbury A-Bantams for a season then he is going to Hill Murray to play high school.
I was ready to count Woodbury out but after seeing the team selections, I'll give WB the edge again. East Ridge kept little experience and brought in a herd of little sophomores. Cut both captains from last season, another good player at the end. Not sure what they were thinking. Could be another long year for the Raptors.CrashDaNET wrote:AgreedJust_Another_Fan wrote:It will definitely be a different style of Woodbury from what we have seen in the past. White Bear apparently didn't need shoes to go 3-0 against Stillwater last season.youngblood08 wrote:At least thier smart enough to wear shoes. What will the drama in WBL be this year?
