Gophers vs. Bucky

This could be the make or break series that defines the Gopher season:
- Just coming off a road sweep of CC
- Biggest name opponent to date in the BADgers
- With Buddish out, can a freshman step up in his place?
Anyone else have an opinion?

Badgers take 3 maybe even 4 points from the Gophers this weekend.

Probably a split? Wish Jake Gardiner was a Gopher! Don really missed on him.

I wish Eaves hadn't missed on getting his brother

I see the Gophers getting three points this weekend. Looking forward to seeing the Badger defense play under the tutelage of Butters. Are they going to be a physical presents, like he was in his days as a Gopher? Or are they going to be prayer boys like he did to the Bears in high school?

Tonight's 6 0 butt whooping of the Gophers demonstrates the superior coaching the Badgers have.
Eaves coaches attention to detail. What a novel concept.
Nice to see Bill Butters (sarcastic) a former Maroon & Gold bleeding player who was hated by Badgers and Badger fans in his playing days Coaching the Badgers D.
Did Don ever think of calling Bill Butters and asking him to step in as D Coach when Hastings left? That would make too much sense.

Why isn't there more outrage in the media to get rid of this clown? How much further does this program have to fall before they stop the bleeding?
6 zip in your own house, are you kidding me? Also, don't these kids have any self respect? You would think someone on this roster would stand up and have some pride. Just another example that the Minnesota High School Hockey player is so OVER RATED.

Might want to tell that to the Minnesota kids on Wisconsin.

What ALL 2 of them that actually played High School hockey in MN? The Gophers have become the laughing stock of the WCHA. What an embarrasment.

You're blabbing about how the MN High School Hockey Player is overrated, yet, most every team in the WCHA has some on them.
No argument about how lousy the Gophers are.

Wonder if Kangas officially lost his #1 spot this weekend. To me it seems like the Gophers are a completely different and better team with Patterson in net. I wonder if they will continue to rotate goalies to see if this keeps happening or if Patterson is the new #1.

How do you guys think PSU will do when they go D1. Don't just Nittany Lion hate. Really how can they hang early on? Really interested to here from people who know the current big ten teams...

I think they'll struggle wins-loss wise for a while but they'll be competitive. UW, Minne, Mich and MSU are all powerhouse college hockey teams and will likely continue to be. Ohio State is improving and competing so it'll be tough. But Penn State has great recruiting areas, it's an awesome campus, it's a name brand college. While they may struggle in conference it'll be because the conference, while small at first, will be a very good conference. Now relatively speakign nationally I think they'll be decent quickly, I think it won't take them long to be a middle of the pack NCAA team, maybe within a couple seasons. Look at UNO and how quickly they've become relevant and they don't have near the resources or recruiting ability that PSU wil have. Getting a quality coach is key, they do that and they'll be fine

And with $80M in donations they should have first-class hockey facilities to go along with everything else they'll have going for them...as JSR notes getting a quality coach is key.

A definite set back this weekend. WHAT is going on with Kangas and the team when he is in the nets?
