"Make me proud"

This afternoon Elk River beat Anoka 5-4 in overtime. What makes this such a great story is the player who scored.

Jered Mclaughlin scored the game winning goal. This was Jered first varsity goal. What makes this even more special is Jered's father Jon McLaughlin passed away unexpectedly this summer. Jon was the Elk River Youth Hockey President and Elk River High Blue Line President. Jon was an amazing person who volunteered many hours in the community. Jon played high school hockey for Anoka in the 80's and the Anoka community honored Jon before the game today. He was very much apart of the Anoka community. His brother is an Assistant Coach for the Anoka Varsity.

Even though Elk River won the game, when they announced Jered Mclaughlin scoring the game winner. The entire crowd cheered. I thought it was moving.

Jon always told his kids before each game "Make me proud" . Tonight Jered you made you father proud. :D :D :D
