I'm seeing a tough year for Wes and the Royals. WBL in running time.

Tied 1-1 after 1 period.

The Bears have been dominant in shots and puck possession, but the puck just isn't going in the net.

Woodbury's goal came about 3 minutes in on a gift turnover at center ice; Schletty stopped the first shot on the breakaway but failed to control his rebound. The Woodbury player buried it.

White Bear responded within a few minutes with a Wahlin snipe from the top of the right circle.

The game has been physical but clean. Lots of good hitting and only one penalty (on Woodbury for slashing). As mentioned previously, the Bears have dominated puck possession. At one point, the first line of Wahlin, Birkenbine, and Morrisette kept the puck in the Woodbury zone for a solid minute and a half even-strength.

2-1 Bears with six minutes left in the 2nd. Birkenbine from Morisette and Wahlin.

Still 2-1 after 2. Woodbury looks horrible. Their only chances this period came on White Bear mistakes.

The Bears spent nearly the entire period in the Woodbury zone and put good shots on net, but the Woodbury goalie has been solid.

3-1 on a sick Wahlin move 37 seconds into the third.

5-1. Hat trick for Wahlin, short-handed, quickly followed by another short-handed goal by Mac Jansen.

6-1 after a Jansen goal on a delayed penalty call (the Woodbury player got called for chucking a White Bear player's stick). It's ugly.

7-1 with 3 min left. Wahlin top-shelf on a great toe-drag move. We've now entered running time.

Unbelievable. Bolin should just jump ship after this year. I hope for his sake he does.

Brandon Wahlin show tonight. 4 goals. 2 assists. One bright spot for Woodbury was Ryan Winter. 6'3" 205 sophomore.

It's gonna be perhaps a long year for Woodbury. WBL is an OK team but not exceptional. They were just able to showcase Woodbury's weaknesses.

I am not sure how acurate this statement is, there is much talk on another post about this team having perhaps the best line in the state, surely in the top 5. If that is the case, and that line is on the ice 50% of the game, they must be better than OK, we will see as the season goes on.
Wait a minute--the last few years Wes is the greatest coach of all time, now he has less talent and he should jump ship---lets see how good of a coach he is then ????????
Makes sense to me, Wes Bolin has been quoted a few different times as saying this team has to be the least experienced in the state. Talking with some of the parents, Woodbury only has 3 kids who played varsity hockey last year, one of them went out with a severe back injury, and one of those maybe got a shift or two each game. 2 new goalies, 5 new defencemen and 6-7 forwards that have never played a minute of varsity before 2 weeks ago. Not sure what you would expect out of this group.

My point here was that WBL has only one really good line and it is on 50% of the game. That weakness will show when they play a good team. You can't win against good opponents with only one line. Bolin has been blessed the past few years with some pretty good talent. We'll see how good of a coach he is coaching a less talented group. IMHO, he arrived at Woodbury at just the right time and reaped the benefits of several others' hard work.

I already know that Bolin is a great coach. Unless he enjoys coaching HS hockey without fail, he's doing nothing for himself by coaching a team whose pipeline has dried up faster than a puddle in the desert.

I thought WBL passing was sharp, breakouts were good, and the defense and goaltender looked solid. The first line was outstanding, but the rest of the team looked good as well. I see they have moved up in LPH rankings so a few others must agree.
