Nice win for the Eagan boys tonight, did a great job of keeping Rau under control..

Wouldn't really say that. Rau was quite amazing; very quick, seemed to always be in the right place at the right time, nice shot. Glad to know he'll be a Gopher.HappyHockeyFan wrote:Nice win for the Eagan boys tonight, did a great job of keeping Rau under control..
I would say keeping Rau from scoring and even keeping him from getting many shots or opportunities to score would qualify as controlling him, he was not a big factor in this game considering the elite player that he is. Eagan did a great job being physical with him limiting his affectiveness. As for the offense their best period was the first which you missed, they finished the period equal in shots to EP and a 2-1 lead, then 2nd period went to EP overall however Eagan got the goal. 3rd period was more even, maybe a little more EP with the power play opportunities EP had, and they both got a goal. I though overall Eagan showed more team speed and was more physical which was a big difference. Both teams are a great watch anytime they are on the ice.HShockeywatcher wrote:Wouldn't really say that. I got there after the 1st. Eden Prairie hit the pipe in both the 2nd and 3rd and also had a disallowed goal in the 2nd; looked like the EP player was in the crease? The better team definitely won in my opinion though.
Eagan has a very good transition game in both directions and was quite good on defense, but I wasn't impress with their offense.
Eden Prairie was very good with the puck in Eagan's end. It really seemed as though these kids have been playing together for years; many passes on each possession as players were moving, seemed to know where their teammates would be.
I would not be surprised to see these two playing at the X in March.
They did have a couple guys that were quite big. I wasn't like "wow, those guys are big or anything" but they did seem to be overall bigger than EP.youngblood08 wrote:Is Eagan's lineup really as Big as they have on Hockey Hub? Only 3 players or so under 6', that size takes away a lot of space.
Eagan does not have more team speed. EP out shot them 2-1. Eagan was more physical, and EP could not catch a break clanging the pipe 3 times.HappyHockeyFan wrote:I would say keeping Rau from scoring and even keeping him from getting many shots or opportunities to score would qualify as controlling him, he was not a big factor in this game considering the elite player that he is. The shot differential was due in part to the fact that EP had 8 power plays to Eagan's 4.FREDFLINTSTONE wrote:Eagan does not have more team speed. EP out shot them 2-1. Well whose fault is that? If this game were played ten times EP would win 8 or 9; oh well shouldn't matter much in the long run.Littlecat wrote:The shot differential was due in part to the fact that EP had 8 power plays to Eagan's 4.FREDFLINTSTONE wrote:Eagan does not have more team speed. I don't know that I agree with this. From seeing these two play, I didn't see anything to say EP was way better. They are amazing passers but beyond that they didn't do much to impress me. It would probably be 5 apiece.HockeyMN1 wrote:Well whose fault is that? And that 100% backs up my point. EP was much quicker, and the only way Eagan could slow them down was to take penalties.Littlecat wrote:The shot differential was due in part to the fact that EP had 8 power plays to Eagan's 4.FREDFLINTSTONE wrote:Eagan does not have more team speed. I would agree with that, but there are 3 guys that have not played together because of injuries. They will get the lines straight and hopefully they will play with more heart. I didn't see that the last 2 games. It's marathon, not a sprint.HShockeywatcher wrote:I don't know that I agree with this. From seeing these two play, I didn't see anything to say EP was way better. And Eagan displayed that team speed almost entirely in their own end in periods 2 & 3. I'll give you that they are the physically superior team. Be happy with the win!HappyHockeyFan wrote:Sorry but Eagan overall was as speedy as EP or more but NOT any less ... they were also much more physical which shows they can play both styles of play where EP didnt show that...and dont worry GFD, got it all under control....so far..

We all know EP is still the superior team. If you've watched EP at all this year outside of this game you know this was their worst game by far. Eagan is a good team but won't compete with the top few in the state come the end of the season. Eagan lost to LV north and EP played a bad game down their and still won by 3. Nobody in the Prairie should be concerned.
What EP needs to work on is simply taking better shots and actually finishing. Their goals aren't where they should be considering their shot totals. It's funny that HHF says that Eagan is as fast if not faster than EP cause, well, they're not. EP is the fastest team in the state bar none. Every kid can fly and idk if HHF actually watched this game but EP flew by Eagan. That's why the penalties were 8-4. The eagles just need to finish thier chances.HShockeywatcher wrote:Excuses are funny to listen toHockeyMN1 wrote:HappyHockeyFan wrote:Sorry but Eagan overall was as speedy as EP or more but NOT any less ... they were also much more physical which shows they can play both styles of play where EP didnt show that...and dont worry GFD, got it all under control....so far..![]()

EP is a good team, no one is saying they aren't. They got beat by a team who played better than they did the night they lost. If that wasn't the case, they wouldn't have lost.
Good team who is VERY good at some things, but definitely things to work on.
While I would agree with you that EP is fast, the bar none statement is really over the top as there are several teams that are as quick.HockeyMN1 wrote:What EP needs to work on is simply taking better shots and actually finishing. If you think EP skated circles around Eagan then you must have been the person that got hit in the head by the puck up in the stands in the 3rd period...it knocked you silly...HockeyMN1 wrote:HappyHockeyFan wrote:Nuff said...![]()

Ok whatever I'm not gonna get all up in arms about it, but the reason Eagan took penalties is cause EP was skating circles around Eagan. You discredit the LVN loss to a hot goalie but that's exactly what this was for EP. Nobody sees Eagan as a serious state title contender, they need to prove a lot of things before anybody can anoint them state champions in December. They would never go up 7-2 on Benilde.
