Just so people who are interested know. Obviously the fans of teams involved, guessing Rapids, East, Elk River, and Cloquet, will be there. But for casual fans, or people who might want to get more bang for their trip, there are a couple other events at the DECC (old arena) that day (Feb. 26). The Lake Superior Family Fun Fest is going on at the DECC from 10 am - 5 pm. Then Country Star Blake Shelton is performin at 7:30 pm. I hope with all these other events spillling fans in along with the quality of teams this year that the Amsoil Arena can be close to sold out that day.

Semifinals and Championships for 7AA. Championship for 7A. Get the word out and invite as many as you can. I'm planning on having a bunch of friends and family meet me in Duluth the weekend of the semifinals. I hope a one of the southern teams, whether it is Forest Lake or Elk River will bring more fans than they have in the past, especially with the new arena. It will be the best place for section hockey hands down, with no other section coming close to playing in an arena as nice, or with the atmosphere.

I hope we are in the semis. I know I will be there. Sounds like a cool place.

Section 2AA and 6AA finals are at Mariucci - which at 10,000 seats is
packed year in and year out. Ask anyone who has gone in recent years (aside from last year when it was at Target Center) what a debacle it is to get in and find a seat. I can't say that Mariucci is a nicer arena than AMSOIL (I haven't seen it yet), but I can assure you the atmosphere at Mariucci for these games is Xcel-caliber in March. I did play in the '94 section 7AA final at the DECC - so I know firsthand how great the atmosphere is/was. To say it's the only one is ludicrous.

Have game times been established?
I loved the old DECC. It was a great building for it's size, but I'd like to see the new arena and it's good to have an excuse for a road trip.
