Sorry Muck

I love the individual seats and the overhead scoreboard reminds me of the good old days of playing Rod Hockey. The hisory isn't bad either.

As far as newer rinks I have to say the Heritage Center in Duluth. They just flat out got it right when they built that place. It's a great place to watch a game, good atmosphere and you feel like you are right on top of the game.

For older rinks, I think the Grand Rapids main rink is pretty historic and a fun place to watch hockey. I love the old wood style barns.

New Rink: Breck is fantastic... great ice, cold and good seating right over the rink with just the right amount of seats. Mound's rink is great for the same reasons. Heritage is excellent as well.

Older Rinks: Hibbing, Edina, Austin, Red Wing (Bergwall), and Grand Rapids come to mind...

Hogkins Berrardo Arena in Coleraine. Best seat in the house above the dugout rink is the goal judge that sits above the net in a cage hangng over the ice. UNBEATABLE>

I will have to go with Aldrich, both for the old school feel and tradition but also for the classic Hill v WB battles that have been played there over the years. The place smells like hockey.

The old rink at Parade.

I was away from the state for a while and when I came back I got to skate there after a long time.

This was where I learned to skate and I could see my father in the stands.

He is there even now.

Richfield has great ice and when the stands are full it is a great place to play, it was my home rink in high school so that helps.

Outside of that I would have to say Greenway and their old school rink is one of my favorites, the home refs make it a interesting place to play as well. You can't go wrong with any of the Northern rinks, Clouqet has a great barn too.

Current home rink is Edina, is that anyones favorite?

Muck, you forgot the why . . .

My favorite rinks are the old Mariucci and Ridder. At the old Mariucci, you couldn't beat Goldie Gopher standing up in the catwalk (his perch) over the rink holding up Mr. Potato Head and, in response, the crowd shouted "Wellstone." Also, every so often Goldie would "accidentally" drop one of signs on the ice sheet and Buzz Christianson would be forced to skate over and retrieve the sign. Ridder is a fun, intimate arena to watch a game. The lighting is good and the seating arrangement is well-done.

I recently went to a White Bear High School game in the new Vadnais Heights arena and was blown away by the intense atmosphere. I'm not sure what rink (I think it was the West rink) it was, but whoever designed it thought of everything. This will be a classic for years to come. It's also a nice perk to have a restaurant/bar (SAKS) connected to the arena. I wonder if this might just add to the intensity of the the older fans (+21) that attend Bears games? Great job WBL Bears supporters!! This is the most fun I have had since leaving the Legion in Roseau for a Rams game.
