AHA vs. Chan

AHA raillies for a 3-2 OT win over Chanhassen. This is the second time Chan has taken AHA to overtime this year, losing 3-2 both times.
Section 2AA just got a little more interesting.
Look for Chan to get the #5 seed and get on the opposite side of the bracket from AHA.

Sorry, I think a win over Jefferson is more impressive than two near losses to Holy Angels. I'd say Prior Lake gets the five seed. Not taking away anything from Chan's effort against Holy Angels.... Just trying to be realistic Chan has beaten only one team that has a .500 record (Farmington 9-9). The Lakers have beaten So St. Paul and Jefferson

How is AHA high seed and then Chan so far down? Two close games and that big of gap?

Chanhassen and Holy Angels are in the same conference and play each other twice a year. With this in mind, both teams are more familiar with one another so the game should be played a bit closer. In addition Chanhassens club is better than usual this year.
AHA also has notable wins (EP, Burnsville, and Blake). IMO that is why AHA has a much higher seed compared to Chanhassen.

Chanhassen is in it's first year of playing varsity hockey. How can they be "better than usual?"
Maybe you meant, "better than expected"
Don't count these guys out....

Chan has really exceeded expectations this year. Plus, if you think they're aren't bad now, wait until next year. They will screw with some teams. I believe they lose around two seniors. They return their top scorer, best d-man, and Nate Traina will be eligible.

I'll admit you got me on that one; could have sworn they were in the conference longer...
Throw that explanation out the window. Maybe Chanhassen has AHA's number then? They took advantage of the Stars in their first regular season game and got some good bounces in the second.
However If you look at the shots in each game, in the first AHA had 38 to Chan's 18 and in the second meeting AHA had 48 to Chan's 13. To me it appears it was their goalie that kept them in the game...
BUT the fact remains they lost those two games against AHA, they do not have any "quality" wins thus far in the season, and they are a hair under .500.
On the flip side, AHA has quality wins, and although they have some questioning losses; they still have an above .500 record.

Chan has played AHA tight, but it appears they don't have the same jump when playing other teams - IF they get matched against AHA in sections it could be entertaining.
