Why did Chisago Lakes go from AA to A? Did there enrollment drop? Or did they pull a Roseau?

Curious... Don't understand your comment on Roseau... :?:

Roseau has chosen AA in both the Girls & Boys Hockey, and have been that way since the choice was an option... You must be thinking of Warroad, who has not chosen to move up to AA, despite its dominance in A over the years...

Chisago Lakes is a semi-suburban area, so my guess is that the enrollment is not dropping, but were granted the move by the MSHSL based on their enrollment meeting A classification and poor performance in AA for a lengthy period of time...

This type of movement for a metro suburban school, playing in 7A, is unfortunate for the smaller towns of NE MN... :!:

For example, I have never understood why Elk River is placed in 7AA...? Why not 8AA, as they once were...? Why not keep the metro teams in metro sections, and allow Section 7 & 8 their own regional representative at state...? Every year, a team from NE MN & NW MN, A & AA, representing their area at state... My feeling anyway...

For the boys teams I wondered this too, BUT there just aren't many AA schools up in north eastern Minnesota anymore. In the early 90's (i could be wrong on that time line) but Hibbing dropped down to single A, Greenway is no longer on it's own as they are combined with Rapids. So there are 2 teams that are no longer in "AA".

Now maybe if say Marshall and/or Denfeld made the jump to "AA" then I would be Elk River might be moved to a different section.

The Section 7A Championship game between Chisago Lakes and Eveleth-Gilbert can be found online on the Minnesota Sports Broadcast Network, found at www.MnSportsNetwork.com. Jim Erickson will have the call, courtesy of 95.9 FM of Forest Lake.

Its because when they were AA they were paired with pine city, but since then they split resulting in a drop to A
