I asked myself the same thing, he had an impressive sophomore year but has gone downhill since that.

Great question.

LaBate deserves the award but Rau is more likely the favorite

Ford has had a good High School career but I agree he hasn't been has good he was as a sophomore. The North produces some real great goalies, Lyon will win the Brimsek.

Anyone find it odd that they can have two Edina players up for the award? No doubt both are great players, but really how about some variation for school representation? For example, Dockry from Burnsville would be a great candidate but instead they chose to double on Edina players.

I know there are a lot of players being missed out for Mr. Hockey, I mean there are only 10 selected but at least with that 10 how about we spread it around the schools a little more?

I voted for Rau. Great player, great career. Cameranesi would probably be my vote for second.

Who cares if a school has more than one nominee. It should be the best players. If a school has three great players they should deserve to be in the final 10.

Indeed.

Just 5 of the last 10. Something like 10 in a row prior to that. I'm curious, which one do you think shouldn't have won it?

Aaron Ness, should have been Jake Gardiner.

You all know I'm an EP fan but I'm as confused as anyone about this.

That's the one year I'd say is a good argument (other than Gorowsky winning over Goligoski, but that's the other way around :? ) Ness was however coming off an undefeated regular season at the time of the voting, and a state championship his junior year.

Rau gets my vote. But seriously how can Tim Bonner of Osseo not be a finalist? He's going to be the NWSC player of the year. I still think Rau is the top player in the state for my money.

Rau will get Mr. Hockey (Gopher recruit) but Cameransi is a very close second IMO (maybe UMD counts since its a U of M school?). Like Daly too but rare for it to go to a defenseman although he's possibly the best in the state.

Are you kidding me. 5 of the last 6 winners have been defensemen.

Leddy
Ness
McDonough
Fischer
Lee

The same argument keeps getting brought up about how Rau will win because he is a gopher recruit.

What about the fact that he is the best player in the state? that should be good enough right?

I voted for Rau too but I also think Labate will finish much higher than that. He will probably take quite a few of the votes from the NHL scouts involved in the voting.

I forgot how big of a role this had in the voting :)
