What's necessary for a good coach?

In order to get hired for a decent head coaching or even assistant coaching job in minnesota, what credentials are required?

Is it pretty much required to have played your HS hockey in Minnesota? Or do you have to have college experience? Or can you get by with a high coaching certificate from USA hockey?

Just curious...

There are certificates required to coach - they older the players the higher level certificate required. Requirements can be found on USA Hockey website.

Each school district is different, you can go to the minnesota state high school league web site, they offer first aid class which some schools require. You can also find job listing there where they will sometimes list the requirements. In the end its like applying for any job the more experience you have the better.
