What low seed makes the tournament?

What low seed (3-8) has the best chance to make it to St. Paul? We all pick the 1-2 seeds, but each year there is always a surprise? Who might this be and why.

Well I would have to say Section 5AA because IMO any of the top 4 could make it.

4AA - If stillwater ends up a 3 seed they could possibly go......depending on goal tending. They would have to be low scoring games.

4th seeded Duluth Marshall in 7A. They always get hot in sections.

If I had to put money on it, I would say 6AA.

EP, BSM, Tonka, Wayzata. 1 game only - I think any one of these teams can beat the other on a given night. Therefore i wouldn't be shocked if the 1 seed made it to state or if the 4 seed did.

I agree with your perspective; any one of those teams have the game to make it out of 6AA; however, I wouldn't necessarily be shocked if the 1 seed made the trip to the X.

Mankato East seems to be the everyone already agreed on.

section 8a. Warroad, TRF, and even LOW have a chance at the #1 seed. those 3 teams mixed with CROX and EGF can be placed almost anywhere from the 1st seed to the 5th seed. that section is very interesting.

I agree whoever (Stillwater or WBL) gets the number three seed, has somewhat of a chance of getting to Saint Paul.

There is no chance. Hill has this locked up. This is the one section that you know nothing less than a one seed will be heading on to the X.

I agree, I dont see much chance for any upset here baring HM having a horrible game.

I wouldn't say that Hill has it locked, because that could be the curse that causes them not to get to state this year. That being said though, I love Hills chances to make it to state, and to win state. If you guys haven't learned by now, you don't bet against Hill come March.

Usually teams like AHA and HM give up losing for Lent.

Ive been a Jefferson Jags fan for some time now and for once in the season they're 100% healthy and they've shown that they can play with some top teams in state and like many have said before this year anyone can play with anyone and I personally think the Jags have what it takes to be the "Dark horse" IMO

A dark horse title for the Jags fits perfectly for them this year. Teams like Burnsville, AHA, and Edina need to take them seriously; come sectional play.

CDH. They seem to be playing more consistent hockey and will likely be a 3 or 4 seed in 3AA. Will defenitely be a tough out for either Eagan or Apple Valley to get by (assuming they play of course).

They said HM was a shoe in 09 and we saw what Stillwater did. If Stillwater goaltending is on I can see them making it. I can also see CDH coming up big in sections and competing for the state title. When both teams want to play they are high caliber teams.

All I am saying is that of the 8 sections, Hill has the best chance to get to the X. Other teams in that section should start throwin the ball around.

Holy Family could be a dark horse. If they can win at Delano and RJM and enter the playoffs with that. They have some young talent to play with Breck. Its all goaltending.[/list]

Any of the top 5 could come out of 8AA. Consider:

5) St. Cloud Tech - took #1 Bemidji to OT before losing, beat #3 Roseau
4) Brainerd - 1 goal game with #1 Bji (until ENG), lost in OT to #2 Moorhead
Tech and Brd split season series
3) Roseau - split with #2 Moorhead
1 & 2) Bemidji & Moorhead - tied both meetings 1-1 and 2-2

Section 2A

With Breck down this year,

Perfect time for a Delano, Holy Family or Providence to get to St. Paul.

I'm sure Blake will be favored and Breck 2nd, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a 3-6 seed win this section.

Just my two cents

In 6A, Willmar could be a serious threat to the top 2 and could make a strong push to the X.
