Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears as though Drew is the leading defensive scorer in class AA. I know Lakeville South's schedule isn't the strongest, but it's still top 20. He seemed to do pretty well in the Elite League too. Is there a reason I don't hear more about him? Am I missing something? I'm not saying he should be Mr. Hockey or anything, but what do you all think of his chances to go D1?

i had the chance to play with drew this summer at a camp and i came away with so many things from just watching him operate on the ice...hes got really smooth hands and a great shot. i havent heard from him lately but it wouldnt surprise me if he was the leading def. scoreer in AA. also i do think he could go d1 to someone like mankato

I have kept tabs on Drew for several years now. He has to be one of, if not the most under rated player in the state. He needs to improve in the D zone, but a year in the ushl could turn him into a sure fire D1 player.

Drew's real problem is that he really doesn't play one position. He almost just plays the whole ice, even in desperate situations where some defensive play would be nice. He has all the physical tools, he just plays very poor positional defense often leaving his partner out to dry on a play.

Nick Jensen is a nice player for the Huskies who worked through that same weakness. He's now the only defenseman for SCSU who has the green light to jump into any offensive play because the coaches trust his ability to get back positionally. The USHL was very helpful for Jensen, it could possibly do the same for Brevig.

Drew is the state AA leader in points for defensemen with 43 points. Drew is also the all time leader in points for a defensemen at Lakeville South. I look for Drew to play a year in juniors and then move on to a WCHA team in a couple years. He is currently being looked at by many Division 1 teams.

Actually, Bill Norman of Rochester Mayo has 45 points. Obviously, Mayo's schedule isn't like Lakeville South's schedule, but we have to give credit where it's due.

Bill Norman had two points... technically they're tied for the lead.
Of course, Mayo was knocked out and Lakeville South will probably make state, so Brevig will be able to claim the AA scoring title by the time the dust settles.
Kloos also had a huge six point game. His season total is now 85. The last AA player to have a 100 point season was Benik in his junior year. The last player with a decent schedule to have a 100 point season was TJ Oshie in 2005. Blake Wheeler had a 100 point season for Breck in 2004. No AA player with a decent schedule has tallied 100 points in a season since Dave Spehar in 1996. Good luck Justin! (And if you decide not to play for the Huskies, pick Yale!)
