long time rivals clash in the playoffs but this year it's not for a trip to state. Which team earns the trip to the 8AA final?

Roso is playing well, they have beat Moorhead this year.
One would think Moohead is the better team.

I think I will go with

Like elliott, I am also going with Moorhead.

The Spuds are the overall better team. IMO

In this game, Moorhead will shut Roseau's offense down because the Spuds have the tender and team deense to do so.

I am not saying the game will be a blow out; it will be a relatively close game. However, the Spuds are going to meet Brainerd in the section 8AA finals.

I have to agree with Elliott, also. Reading in the Forum this morning it sound like some type of school investigation is ongoing in Roseau. If it impacts the top half of the roster, there goes the momentum. 8)

It looks like Brainerd may have lost Pohlkamp to a knee injury last night #-o

That should give Bemidji the edge to meet the Spuds in the 8AA championship :-s

I read the article also.....but it doesn't name the school that is being investigated.

"Prior to the game, the school said it is conducting an investigation regarding members of the team following an incident over the weekend."

If I were a betting man, since the article is mostly a recap of the spuds game.... I would bet they were talking about Moorhead.

Syd,
Are you sure?
I will have to email Joe.
That would be a very bad thing happening to a very nice kid and family.
I hope it can be repaired to normal.

He was helped off the ice midway through the 1st period and left the bench area.

Speculation around the rink was an MCL.

Wow...

I just realized I put Brainerd instead of Bemidji...

I meant to put Bemidj. My bad!

I bet they were, too - heard from a reliable source that a senior defenseman (won't name him) was pinched for minor consumption or posession (don't think that's a "minor" penalty). To top it off, it's someone who already served a suspension this year for a hazing incident - gotta be a slow learner !

I'm going to go with Roseau. I don't think Moorhead has been playing well the last month. Too many defensive breakdowns and I don't think Bitzer has been playing up to his capabilities. The Spuds were able to rally over the last "incident", I don't think they can do it again amidst the latest investigation. Take that and add Roseau playing very well with everyone healthy. Omdahl, Erickson, and company get it done 4-1.

ROSEAU

They are as healthy as they have been since the beginning of the season. Playing better, settling in with a plan that suits their strengths at the right time, and have found a pretty consistent tender too. I don't think any team in section 8AA would actually want Roseau on their schedule right now........... Should be a good one on Saturday.

Real suspect on D and goaltending, will have to score 5 to win.

Moorhead still has the edge in talent and in spite of what is going on outside the rink I don't see them totally caving in. That being said Roseau is playing some much improved hockey right now and should have a real good shot at taking them down.

Prediction
Roseau 3
Moorhead 2

Just saw this on the Grand Forks Herald on-line version:

Moorhead High investigating hockey team incident
Moorhead High School athletic director Don Hulbert acknowledged Wednesday the school is investigating an incident involving some members of the boys hockey team.

Sad to say, this is a new incident, not a rehash of the earlier incident.

Huh? Because a parent reported hazing in December, they are witch hunters now? Parents are not mentioned in this case. Perhaps the kids should carry themselves with integrity and keep their noses clean. Hold people accountable rather than trying to blame someone else!

Agreed. There are no details at all in that article. Where do you get parents creating a witch hunt?

Sounds like someone who doesn't have a d _ _ _ clue - you don't have any idea whether it's a witch hunt or an Easter egg hunt 'cause nobody's releasing any details yet !

Amen. Having graduated from Moorhead High many years ago, even I'm embarrassed of this years team. These kids need to get their act together and take some pride in the "M"

Ditto. This team obviously has a few individuals who are more interested in things other than hockey - they should go do "other things" and quit taking another kid's ice time.
