Do you ever go watch any games?

This year's AHA team had the top end talent, but lacked the depth and goaltending they enjoyed in their glory years.

Having seen AHA play numerous times this season, I for one am not surprised at this result. The days of AHA being a top 10 team are over.

A hockey? Lets not forget they beat Eden Prairie this year. This season did not go the right way for the team but I think it's not right to bash the team publicly like this. They are fully capable of competing with the best teams in the state, no one can doubt that. Congrats to PL on a great win, sad to see AHA fall like that. You'll see them back up there/

Keep in mind they are a bunch of 16 to 18 year old kids and had to go through a lot this year with Trebil being sick.... I'm sure they missed him being behind the bench a lot this season. Was he there tonight?

And by the way, my post was not meant to take anything away from Prior Lake... Congratulations to the Lakers.

From the get go i could tell they were going to have a tough one. Prior Lake sure came to play. Goalie had a hot night

thats a tough loss to swallow. you never want to lose against a terrible hockey program like prior lake. that must be tough on those kids. you work all year to get to state and you get bounced in the first round to a bottom dweller. but hey thats the fun of the game!

Watched this game - prior lake pretty much handle AHA 5 on 5 - AHA power play very good - 3 goals from the power play. I have seen a number of teams this year - a few games with Prior Lake and their goalie has played well in every game. Not sure what happened to them in the 1st half of the season, but Prior Lake seems strong (and young). Defense very physical late in the game

I do not have a horse in this race but I don't think you know what you are talking about - AHA loses to Chan and Ties NP. Prior Lake beat S St Paul, and Jefferson, and I think took Burnsville and LVS to OT. Also according to the score sheets played Eagan and AV tight. Not sure of the bottom dweller - but understand this being a tough loss for AHA - they got handled tonight and by the looks of it weren't expecting that.

I understand where you are coming from. You are probably correct. i was wrong to say they are the bottom dweller. I guess im just used to them being a bottom dweller. You dont have to insult me though. It isn't very classy

I wasn't bashing AHA by any means, they opted up and I give them a ton of credit for doing that. This is a year when they have the choice to opt up again or not, they haven't fared too well the past couple of years section wise and they will again probably be in a tough section should they choose AA. That's all.

Actually went to LPH and noticed the bantam A team in the top 20 and the PWA team in the top 6. No insult intended - just following hockey and looking at the facts.

Prior Lake has had some very good youth teams over the past decade, but the problem is the cream of the crop has often chosen to go elsewhere for school (Barriball and Thelen being just two examples). This could be a big shot in the arm for the program's future.

This is definitely one of the biggest wins in the last 10-15 years for Prior Lake. Let's see if it leads to better teams and a better program. Hopefully.

Good coaching - absoulutely. Prior Lake's program turned around approximatley 22 months ago when Joe Pankratz was hired. Albeit playing a softer Missota conference schedule, last year's team won 15 games with only 3 seniors that played regularly. Great coaching - including very good assistanc coaches - and good leadership from last year's seniors helped development the foundation for this year's group. Since getting through the first half of the South Suburban schedule and getting used to the level of play, they have been very competitive. For anyone that has watched them play in the last month, last night was not that big a surprise.

As an AHA fan and supporter, I will say this about the program. Yes they have taken a step back from the early 2000's teams. Maybe the down turn in the economy hurt with getting kids to come and play for them. Yes a hard year for the kids with a couple of illnesses within the team family, coach and a parent. But overall the program I feel is strong, kids want to play at AHA, confernece is what it is, playing AA is where this program needs to be playing. Just need to get back to bringing in the top players and very good role players.
As for the lost to PL last night, PL played a good game and are coached well. Anybody can beat anyone on a given night. The past 30 days one team was improving and one team took a step back. There has been some upsets all year. MN hockey as a whole I feel is getting better not just at the top but at the bottom also.
Good luck to PL vs Edina. AHA will be back and a force again.

AHA has some very good players - Labate has an amazing shot. PL actually has a strong connection to AHA - with a player from AHA a few years ago. AHA had a player on this years team from PL, so maybe there is a little more emphasis on this game. It appears moving to a stronger program has helped PL - I noticed from the roster sheet they only have 2 or 3 seniors on this team that play regualrly - and the rest juniors, sophomores, and a freshmen getting regualr shifts. Completely agree with your point that most teams can win on any given night. Both teams seemed to be couched well - exciting game to watch. Love MN High School Hockey....

The first time they played it was 12-0, the second time, on Feb 05, 2011, Prior Lake took Bville to OT before losing 3-2  They improved their results against most of the South Suburban opponents the second time around. That is one sign of a good coach. Congrats to PL on a big win for the program.
