Is there still room in this tournament and who do you get a hold of to fill out an application to play in the Festival?

Is it March 19-20th at Super Rink?

This Tourney used to be an All Star tourney. The top 100 players from each class divided up into North, South, East, and West. It was always very strong... all the great players would play especially at the Sophomore and Junior age... now you fill out an application to play? Do the top players even play in this anymore?

Is this tourney worth going to watch? Is there an admission fee?

Last night I went to the Schwans super rink and checked out two games at this Gopher State Festival. The first game was the 2013 classification which means the kids are scheduled to graduate in the year 2013. The West team (Red) vs. South (Black). The west team completely dominated this game and won 8-1 I believe. The game was real chippy and the refs basically called no penalties at all. Two guys on the West (red) team had taped the names "Ovechkin" and "pfenuef" on the back of their jerseys, basically making a mockery of the game and tourney. The West team was absolutely loaded with players from Benilde, Hill M, Blaine, Minnetonka, Edina and Totino. Lots of chippy behind the play stuff by the West team while being up 6-7 goals. Game reminded me of a summer "AAA" game with one loaded team and really no discipline or respect for the other team. The second game was the 2011/2012 South (Black) vs. West (red) teams. This game was a much cleaner fast paced game by both sides. The West team had more talent overall and won the game 7-4 with an empty netter at the end. The South tied the game with 15 mins. left at 4-4 so a more entertaining game. During this game there were a few dangerous hits that could have caused injury and the refs just let it go. Seemed like the referees are just there to prevent fighting and thats about it. The cost to get in is $7.00 and I think 24.00 for a weekend pass, a little extreme I thought for basically a meaningless tourney. Overall, I didn't see any scouts in the stands, no lineup announcements, no announcing period not even penalties, really nothing to gain by the players playing at all. There are two 45 mins. periods of running time, penalties just continue to tick off the clock. Basically in summary, it is a AAA tourney played in March at the Schwans rink. High School All Star Tourney like Duluth has, not so much.

I played in this last year and there's plenty go gain from it. It's ice time, fun, and pretty good competition

I question that only the top 100 players from each class are playing at this event. There are players that are not even near the top 100 playing in the Festival.

there is not an application. Players are invited to play. It's like a Super Series, only by grade and not age.

Not the top 100. With the exception of a few, the players can all skate at a high level. There are teams that are stacked more than other teams also. The players do get ice time but...... do they really need ice time after playing a full season of hockey? Really makes no sense.

Where is information on this tourney?

I had also played in this tournament as well a few years ago. It is definitely worth it; a very worthwhile experience. Great competition.

You boys need to go back to read 218er's post.
This is in fact a true statement.
Tournament has diminished over the years, I think due to Advanced tryouts.
