Basketball fans...stupid. I'm surprised they didn't mention 206 and 216 at state though. The best chant I've heard in a while was at state two years ago when 206 said something and the EP students immediately came back with "Who are you?" I know some schools, namely Edina, have banned sieving the goalie. I don't mind most of the stuff that much although the reported WBL "tampon" chant was over the line. Usually the stuff at state isn't too bad.

Yeah.... there can be tasteless chants that go on, but I knew society had changed when a few years ago they stopped the "Sieve" chant... There is no room for using the "N" word or any other racial/religious term, but, I always found it humorous to hear the chants such as "Daddy's Money" when schools would face Edina.

what is the "tampon" chant? If not safe for posting i understand, just curios.

I don't know what everyone is crying about, it wasn't even a loud chant, and it came from the middle of the student section. If you are gonna sit there and tell me that's the worst thing you've heard at a sports game, well then I really don't care what you think about anything.

This is not directed at HockeyMN1! Just in general.

It was not "the worst" thing I've ever heard, but it was classless. The chant was "where's your tampon" while Ben Bahe was skating to the bench with blood dripping from his face onto the ice. It was loud and clear on the other side.

I understand that things can get out of hand (Cooper/SLP hockey game when Cooper fans started to throw pennies and bagels at the SLP fans back in the early 90s) but the question is "when will they stop?" when it comes to limiting chants from student sections.

When Jay Forman (son of Chuck Forman) transferred to 'Tonka and then went back to EP for his senior year, the 'Tonka fans started chanting "Your-a-traitor" *clap* *clap* *clap-clap-clap* Needless to say, Chuck wasn't happy to hear it... but Jay was actually laughing about it (he knew that we were just giving him grief since he was such a well liked kid in high school.) But does that go over the line?

While at a 'Tonka/Hopkins football game, 'Tonka was getting smoked (this was back when even Cooper and SLP knew they'd get at least 1 victory because we were so bad.) The students were bored and started to make up chants... they would do the whole "gimmie a ____" with things like; Q-Q-Q-Q.. what's that spell? 4-Q! Or F-A-H "-" Q (yes we'd even say give me a hyphen) what's that spell... FAH-Q! From there, we just went silly... B-B-B-B... what's that spell? Bbbbbbbbbbb. Or my personal favorite from that game... A-L-M-W-U-N-G-O-P... what's that spell? *just make some inaudible sound*

My point is, as long as the students are not going into racial remarks, religious remarks, etc. Let them have fun with it! Because nothing will ever beat the famous "reading the newspaper" when the other team is being introduced before the game. And it would be a shame to see that get banned.

I remember hearing the B-B-B-B cheer at a basketball game in Prior Lake in the late 70s or early 80s when they were a state basketball power. I had forgotten all about that one. Thought it was pretty funny at the time.... but I was much younger then.

My favorite spelling one that I'm sure is used all over now, I've heard it at a few EP games, is "Give me an S, give me an E, give me an X, what does that spell? SEX! What does that mean? Score score score score score score score..." Clever.

If accurate, the food stamp chant is classless. I highly doubt the chant evolved into using the "N" word.

If an AD was present, I am sure the inappropriate chant ended quickly.

Frankly, I find some chanting fun as long as it is in good spirit and not demeaning. College games are loaded with rehearsed chants.

I don't think they mean that there was an "N" word CHANT. It was maybe a few fans yelling that. At least that is what I got out of the article.

I didn't see the blood until after the fact, I think if people had seen it the chant may not have been that. To me it looked like he was milking it, but obviously my opinion changed when I saw that he was bleeding. Where was he cut anyway?

I think it's a stretch to compare racial slurs and whipping change at opposing fans to chanting about toiletries.

Be honest buddy it's okay. The only reason that chant was made is because there was blood, otherwise it wouldn't have made sense.

That one is pretty good.

I have a couple of great ones.
The East fans will remmber this one. East students would sing where not number 5, 4, 3, 2 where number #1 in the state.

But as a fan of AHA, the students started after a goal vs The Cake in the playoffs Jesus Loves Us. Then about 5 minutes later the Cake Tied the game and they started Where is Jesus?
