I think its great for high school hockey. The more public school teams that youth kids see in the tournament the better.

Without any private schools in the tourney, what are people going to complain about now!?

O, wait. People always think of something.

No "public school" chant every 6 minutes? What will I do. All I know is that I go there to watch AWESOME high school hockey and those privates over the years have seldom let me down. A bunch of 16 - 18 year old MINNESOTA kids on most of the teams last time I looked.

"A Few Good Privates"....

PPG being questioned by Mr. Public. Mr. Public: PPG, you are an Alum of Hill-Murray. You are a fan of Pioneer hockey. You have a certain fondness of private schools. Stpaul (PPG's attorney): Is there a question any where in our future? Mr. Public: I am just verifying that PPG likes Hill-Murray and most private schools. PPG: Would you like to know my favorite color....green....or my two favorite letters...H & M?

Mr. Public: Isn't it true, PPG, that you are disappointed that WBL beat HM in the section final? PPG: Yes. Mr. Public: Isn't it true that you are disappointed that no private schools are in this year's State Tournament? PPG: Yes, that's true. Mr. Public: And isn't it true that you are considering legal against the MSHSL to add a private school to this year's tournament? PPG: Do you want the truth? Mr. Public: Yes. PPG: Do you want the truth? Mr. Public: I think I'm entitled to the truth! PPG: YOU CAN'T HANDLE the TRUTH!

PPG: You public school people use words like "code" of recruiting, "honor" of friendships, and "loyalty" of associations like they are punchlines on a hockey website. Truth is you want private schools in the tournament! You need private schools in the tournament! Who else will the casual fan pull against (excluding Edina). Daddy's money no longer has meaning without a private school.

Mr Public: PPG, are you aware that there is a little know provision called the "Code Green"? PPG: Yes, I'm aware of it. Mr. Public: And this provision allows the MSHSL to provide a play-in game between two private schools if none have qualified on their own, is that correct? PPG: Yes. Mr. Public: And isn't it true that you ordered the "Code Green"?? PPG: You're G$#damn Right I did!

Still represented at the A level  So still some to root against.

Why are they playing at the A level when they recruit their players.

Yup, no private teams in the tournament this year but some will still call for them to have their own tournament for some reason.

Hopefully we'll get a reprieve for at least a month or two.

It shouldn't matter either way. Minnesota high school hockey is still minnesota high school hockey regardless if the school is public or private. Makes absolutely no difference to me.

Damn private schools always dominating with their recruited players and unlimited money. This year is gonna be just like every other... Wait... No private schools???

East Cake, You've got to be kidding me

The thought that Duluth East is a true "Cake" school is insane. Ever been to Lakeside, Hunters Park and thw Woodland neighborhoods?, we're talking middle class areas and proud of it. The reason that East may have such a reputation is because the school is good due to the fact that some parents are involved in the elementary and middle schools. :?: :?: :?:

A proud East parent.

in class AA... it doesn't bother me when private schools make it (simply because of open enrollment and how many kids transfer to other schools just like they would a private school.) Yeah HM recruits the best players from the NE 'burbs, but many schools pull players in from other districts and get away with it (Jefferson did it for years, 'Tonka did it for years, etc.)

Class A is a different story, but only with a few schools. STA comes to mind right away with how they've done in class A. Ken Pauly from BSM said it best when he said that it becomes nothing but trophy chasing after a while (which is why BSM is now in class AA.)

So even if HM made it... I'd still be cheering against Edina first (that'll never change.)
