They tied 2-2 to wrap up the regular season. Should be an exciting matchup!

Im looking to see another hibbing upset. Two northern teams always make up for a good match. Lets see another bluejacket win and represent 7A!

wish they would have been set up different.. Always sucks when a Northern team has to eliminate another

that said.. Honeslty.. I think Htown is better, but Hibbing is all go right now , with a goalie on a streak

Still possible with a little luck for a northeast vs northwest final with a Hibbing vs. Thief River Falls.

Hibbing looks tiny in this tourney.. Especially against RL, but RL looked big..

I think Htown has a good shot to win it all and so does TRF....

Good luck to the North!!!!!

Lourdes looked like a bantam team compared to the AA teams that played at the Rec Center in the playoffs.

I think you mean single A. Double starts tomorrow.

I'm not delusional, Hermantown is the better team, but Hibbing is hot. They have a top line that can score on anyone, two other lines that are competitive, and a goalie who is locked in right now. I'm picking Hibbing in an upset 4-3. As long as STA doesn't win, I'm happy.

I agree with the other postings that Hermantown is the better team but Hibbing is playing very well right now specifically their goalie Tromp. 2 straight shutouts against top 10 teams. Not bad. I think that top to bottom Hermantown has more balance and depth than Hibbing does. Hermantown's first line had 2 goals, 2nd line had 1 goal, and 3rd line had 2 goals vs Alexandria. Hibbing's top line had 3 out of 4 goals vs Lourdes. That being said If Hermantown can hold the 1st line to 1 or 2 goals they should handle Hibbing easily. If not, Hermantown better get ready to play at 9am Saturday. Another thing that bothers me about picking Hibbing is that they were outshot 29-15 yesterday! Hermantown averages 35 shots per game so if Hibbing wants to have a chance Tromp better stand on his head for the 3rd game in a row.

Hermantown 6 (EN)
Hibbing 3

I say Hermantown in this one, they are the better team. But for them to win they need to score early because Tromp gets better and better as he comes up with big saves. Hibbing has one good line with the others being tiny, but that one line can be very dangerous. If Hawks score early its Hermantown, if they don't I say Tromp will come up big and Hibbing wins.

heres the deal short and simple, htown needs to score first or they will lose this one, OR need to have a fourth liner plow tromp into next week, they are very talented but tromp has been hot and could spell the end of the hawks hopes for state, BUT if the hawks score first the game is over because all hibbing has down is ride their goalie and get some soft goals and prey on the other team when the panic,

This should be a good one. Afraid it's going to come down to great goaltending. Tromp has sure looked in control while Lucas has yet to be really tested at the Xcel.

My pick goes towards the Bluejackets. This team is hot right now, and has what I would call one of the best goalies in the state. These two teams tied earlier in the season, but the momentum Hibbing has right now, I see the jackets taking the W.

Jackets-4 w/ open netter
Hawks-2

It looks to me like the games that Hermantown can control the pace of they win. They have some great D and their forwards fore check and back check up a storm so getting to their goalie is tough. The one game that I saw them lose in they could not control the speed and the flow of the game. It was against Cloquet and they got ran over and around by the speed of Cloquet's first line. I do not think that Hibbing has the personnel to pull a Cloquet on them. Tromp is a good goalie but I think that the pressure that Hermantown will bring to him will crack him due to the sheer volume of shots. I think it is gonna be something like 8 to 3 Hermantown and am even willing to give Hibbing the first goal of the game before they get beaten by a team that is over all from top to bottom a better team. Tomorrow night we will still be wondering about how well their goalie can do when he is under pressure because we are not going to see him under pressure tomorrow.

I felt like Hermantown was just coasting from beginning to end against Alex., took a goal to wake them up then they just set it on cruise control (in a different way than STA-who put the pedal down to the floor). In games I've watched Hermantown they seem to step it up for the "big" games. The Cloquet game was an oddity as it was admitted that at the time the kids were absolutely gassed after the road trip to EP and being down players due to injury and illness. Yes, the first line for Cloquet took all the opportunities given to them and capitalized -they are good enuff to do that, but it wasn't the Hawks night and that's why we play the games.

My take is Hermantown is healthy (it appears) and may have been saving some in the tank for the Semi's... the pace of Wed. game just didn't seem to be the same I've seen Hermantown move against better competition. Tie game up in Hibbing, don't see this one being a run away for either team, but I didn't see the first.

Should be a close game and it will be because of the 7th man (TV timeouts!) My one knock on the State Tourney and games televised in Section finals is that teams only need to be 2 lines deep when it counts and it's not just single A teams, AA is the same.

Hermantown up 3-1 in the second.

3 quick goals for H-town in this period.

The Adam Johnson show those last two goals...what a sick move for his 2nd goal, just filthy. I'm impressed with his play so far, tons of poise.
