Minnesotans at Out-of-State Universities

I happen to be in Madison this weekend, so I went to Wisconsin's home opener against Northern Michigan tonight. I was treated to an entertaining game--NMU was up 2-0 heading into the 3rd, Wisconsin tied it with 1:30 to go, and NMU won with 3 seconds left in OT. It wasn't the prettiest thing I've ever seen; the Badgers looked like a team that only has one senior on the roster (which they are--some pretty sloppy play), and NMU was more than a little bit chippy. But I definitely got my money's worth.
Even though these aren't MN schools, both teams' Minnesotans played big roles. Reid Ellingson, the Cloquet goalie who ruined my sophomore year at East, came up big time and time again for NMU. For Wisconsin, Tyler Barnes of Burnsville was probably the flashiest forward out there. Freshman Joseph LaBate (AHA) and sophomore Joe Faust (Bloom. Jefferson) scored the two Badger goals. Patrick Daly of BSM, another freshman, logged a decent amount of ice time as well. It was fun to see some familiar names out there, playing big roles for their respective teams.
