We need an official thread and hopefully someday we'll get it pinned to the first page.

I meant to go to the Breck vs HM game tonight, but my son had a ton of homework, so we stayed home.

Hockey Hub has:

Champlin Park 3-1 over Bloomington Jefferson
St. Paul United 4-0 over Totino-Grace
Rochester JM 3-2 over Fairbault

Apple Valley 1 Wayzata 0

After an evenly-played first period, Wayzata dominated the final two periods, but was unable to solve the AV goaltender, Hailey Sampson, who was outstanding (40 saves). The winning goal was scored on a breakaway with 1 second remaining in the third period, when the puck squirted past the pinching defensemen, and the AV player took it in from the neutral zone.

Look like my HM team took out Minnetonka 5-4. According to Hockey Hub, Tonka was up 3-1 after the first period. HM needs one of their two goalies to get a lot stronger as this season goes on.

Hill-Murray 6-3 over Eden Prairie

Game was 6-0 after two periods. Hannah Brandt had 3 goals and 3 assists. Coach played her on defense in the third to prepare team for her being gone around Christmas time. So that allowed Eden Prairie to have more time with the puck and get a few goals. Shots were 30-12 after two periods as well...

Blaine 3-2 in OT over Anoka, interesting Blaine only had 12 shots on goal, they scored on the 4th shot, 8th shot and 12th shot, every 4th shot. I don't think they have lost yet this year.

According to the hub we have Irondale's first loss

BSM 3
Irondale 1

And it claimed BSM badly out shot Irondale, something like 47-11.

I like me my Irondale team, but that isn't going to get it done...

The big difference in the game was that BSM was 2 for 3 on the power play vs. Irondale's 0 for 7.

And no goals By Hannah Brandt. I assume she was there, but first time all year she's been kept off the score sheet.

Burnsville 1, Edina 0  (Burnsville's Lauren Bench stops all 42 Edina shots for the shutout)

Nice win for Burnsville. Edina has a very solid squad and an outstanding goalie, but they don't have a lot of top end scoring which may catch up with them. Granted they have the easiest section in state, so it won't be until St. Paul...

Minneapolis 3, Red Wing 2 (OT)
Andover 4, North Wright County 1

I know the two winning teams wouldn't agree, but I suspect most others would probably consider both of these to be upsets.

The Novas have now won three in a row. Good to see girls hockey hanging on in Minneapolis proper.

A night of upsets if you look at rankings, etc. but it's why it's great that the games are played on the rink and not on paper, by rankings, by computers, etc. Congrats to the winners tonight and tomorrows another day for the rest!
