I am putting this up earlier than normal because I will be heading out of town for a long weekend! So rather than waiting and posting them on Monday with a Tuesday deadline, I thought it would be better to give everyone a little more time and get the thread started now.

As always, we welcome all forum members to give these pick‘em contests a shot – see the opening post under “Week 1” if you have questions on the format or point scoring system. Entries for Week 2 must be posted by 6:00 pm Tuesday on November 22nd.

Note that the rankings for each team are not included this week. If you want to take the most up-to-date rankings into account when making your predictions, check www.letsplayhockey.com/ for an update of their pre-season rankings. This should be available sometime later in the day tomorrow (Thursday).

One other slight change from the usual is that I’m including a few teams that were not ranked in LPH’s pre-season poll, but are off to a promising start. Wayzata, Andover, Blaine, the Duluth Northern Stars and Grand Rapids/Greenway are all involved in competitive games this week. With a shortened Thanksgiving week I thought it would be a good time to give these teams some attention.

Last note: there are several Holiday tournaments on tap that will involve one or more ranked teams. Since we don’t know which teams will advance in these tournaments, there will be some real good games that unfortunately cannot be included.
