Not much love being shown to the north on this one.
I expect that to change as the year goes on.

If I remember correctly, I believe the team has to have played 5 games before they are in the ranking system.
Not sure though, Freddy might know for sure.

I think we will see Moorhead and Duluth East move onto this list very soon. I think the top team to the north will be Hermantown. It will be very interesting to see how the Jr. Hawks do against Highland tomorrow up in the Superior Tournament. It's way too early to put much stock in these rankings. It just serves as motivation to the teams that are not on it. Being on top places a huge bullseye on your chest. Anyone have any idea how teams like Bemidji, Grand Rapids and Roseau are expected to fare? I know some kids from Walker had a great peewee season last year.

Prior Lake is the team to beat. Deep team with goal tending, and coaching.

Roseau is down this year. You won't see them travel to MSP unless they think they can do some damage. No Thanksgiving Tourney in EP=not good.
Prior Lake will start OK, but I guarantee they will disappoint in D6---again. They always do. Until you go out and beat someone in Districts in Feb., the early season "W"s mean nothing.
And, as far as coaching goes, that might be PL's weak spot. They should have advanced out of D6 last year, but couldn't. Why would that be a positive this year?
Let's see them beat Tonka, Edina, and Eden Prairie and then I'll consider them a title contender.
I still think it will be Lakeville South, Elk River, Eden Prairie and Maple Grove in the Final Four.

EP tournament will tell us a lot about the top spots in the rankings.
Any prediction there?

Prior lake has a completely different team this year. This is the list of teams they have already beaten.
PL 10 - Minnetonka 2
PL 5 - STMA 3
PL 3 - Woodbury 2
PL 8 - Jefferson 2
PL 5 - Farmington 2
PL 3 - Elk River 2
I watched this team 3-4 times last year and watched them twice this year. They have better goal tending and more depth this year. Last years team was built around two players. One defenseman and one goalie. Much deeper team this year. With addition of Machine/Fire player and a good goalie this team will be stronger this year. My two cents................

Lakeville South is a better skating team and also has size in defense and offense.

Prior Lake won the match up against Lakeville South in EP tourney. If PL wins the EP tourney they will be the # 1 ranked PWA team in Minnesota.

What about Lake Elmo's squad this year???? They have been overshawdowed every year and don't get the respect they deserve. They're newest addition, (#17) to the team is a 6'3" defense from Humbolt, Texas and has been a bruiser for their team. Right now they are 7-14-2 and put up a great fight against Eden Prarie and St. Louis Park but just fell short. They are a team to watch this year and they will be participating in the Moorhead tournament this weekend.... WATCH OUT!
