Dec. 8th- MG at Blaine

Who wins this one? I see Maple Grove being the better team and much deeper than the very young Blaine team, not sure Blaine will be able to keep up. But for the sake of keeping things interesting I'll say a 3-3 tie, Malvin keeps Blaine in it.

Maple Grove by 2-3 goals. Top line of Maple Grove out matches Blaines #1 line. Crimson is lead by the better of the D (Gross) than Blaines #1 D (Brodzinski). I give goaltending to Blaine. Blaine is deep, but not like Maple Grove. Anything can happen

I think Blaine led by a very good sophomore class keeps the game close but I think

Maple Grove has essentially two first lines that are superior to Blaine's top line....and not to mention Maple Grove has a D who is fourth in the state in points with six goals. The only clear advantage I see to Blaine is Malvin. Malvin will have to have another section like performance to keep this one close.
MG 4
Blaine 1

Well I whish that I had more confidence in MG beating the Bengals tonight but I don't.
The three things I'm sure we can all agree on is that our goaltender needs to minimize the rebounds, the "D" has to clears away all the trash in front and they have to stay out of the box. Otherwise will be in for a long night.
Im sure it will be a fight till the end but I still believe that the Crimson will find away to come away with "W"…

Definetly saw this tonight.
Gross>Brodzinski
Brodzinski does not even belong in the same category as Gross. Gross is hands down the best defensemen in the state. Disapointed that the Gophers dropped the ball and picked Brodzinski out of these two.

It kills me to know how close SCSU was to landing Gross. Now he'll be lucky to play two games in Minnesota throughout his college career.

Maple Grove moves the puck around VERY well on the PP. Gross is very smooth, Brodzinski had an off game aside from scoring a goal. Steman was IMO best player on the ice tonight, he's a competitor.

Your not the only one realizing this. Gross is definitely D1 calibur. Brodzinski is a good player, but not good enough for the Maroon and Gold.
Letsplayhockey....Is that Brodzinski's excuse tonight having an off night? Overrated and yes I know he is a Gopher recruit

All the myths are coming to fruition on #20 (height, weight, strength, hands, attitude, vision, speed).
Gross has the upper hand in all areas.
Nothing new if you've been watching these two for years. Off night my...
Lucia got to see first hand tonight.

Let them grow/mature and then judge. Right now, you are judging 16 year olds that are anything but finished products.

I think we both know it wasn't as close as you are making it sound.

exactly... making D1 offers is coming from someone making some type of "judgement on 16 year olds".... right?

I have a little more faith in the likes of Lucia, Guentzel, Hakstol, USA Hockey, and others of that ilk to project players years from now than the general message board crowd. Sorry.

No need to appologize.
Never claimed to be an expert, but also don't need to be in obvious situations.
Sometimes there's oversight - and your "names" have proven so on an annual basis. That's just D1 scouting - hit or miss.
I'm just "betting" this will be one of them.

No doubt no coach hits for a perfect batting average. I do tend to like the odds for success when there is a pretty good consensus among some of the very best college programs though.

The first goals for both Maple Grove and Blaine were from absolutely ridiculous angles.

Gross=Better offensively
Brodzinski=Better defensively
