NOT a good call, Burnsville leads 3-1 after two.

Burnsville 5, BSM 1

Congrats to Burnsville. Nice win. Good luck to Ken Pauly to try to get the BSM superstars to play disciplined team hockey. I especially enjoyed the HM transfer waving his stick around above his head demanding the puck from his new teammates.

21 shots on goal by Benilde in the 3rd period. No goals. Wow.

Burnsville's goalie played awesome! Even though they were outshot, Burnsville looked like they controlled the game. Anderson with 5 points (1 goal and 4 assists) stood out. Most of their goals were PP goals and it shows that teams need to play disciplined hockey against them or they will lose the game. Congrats to the Blaze!

Impressive win by the Blaze. Benilde may have more talent, but they got outworked tonight. Benilde had a lot of shots off the rush but Burnsville did a good job of clearing things out and winning the battles down low. The Burnsville PP was sharp and they forechecked well enough to cause Benilde some problems, especially in the 2nd. The Red Knights are going to have to learn how to get their hands dirty and maybe play some dump-and-chase instead of trying to make everything happen off the rush. You can destroy St. Cloud Tech that way, but it's not very effective against other top ten teams. They also lost their composure near the end, and the result was not pretty.

The Red Knights have some work to do. Meanwhile, Burnsville seems to have really put things together since that opening loss to Minnetonka and should be a force to be reckoned with down the stretch.

Not impressed by BSM, Besse looked average and overall team not top 5 material. Burnsville has a nice team and will compete well in conference play against anyone. They will be serious contenders come sections. Jake Horton for BSM was their best player on the ice tonight, for Burnsville it was Chapman and Sheehy. Next up for Burnsville is Rosemount and for BSM its Duluth Mashall. Its early yet so maybe BSM just needs time to hit stride.

Besse did look a step slow tonight, but you still have to keep in mind that he is still recovering from the concussion he got during the Hill-Murray game a week ago.

Benilde got out coached badly! Someone please explain why Horton ..a top defenseman in the state...was moved to center ice? Sorry HHF but he looked lost there, he is clearly talented but is not comfortable at forward. Burnsville had a great plan and just stuck with it. The team in red almost seemed offended that Burnsville dare to compete with them. So much individual play on the part of Benilde kept the more skilled team from doing much.

Horton plays up front on the power play (and sometimes in situations where they really need a goal). Check the pp numbers from last year. They skyrocketed when Horton moved up.

Hope the kid gets better soon. Always hate to see concussion situations with young players.

I guess I missed that he had a concussion a week ago, could possibly explain his average play tonight.

I was mainly talking about speed and skill regarding Horton, he looked like their best player out there tonight. I wasnt really speaking in terms of positioning and I will say that there was too much individual play out there, but the season is young, I would say really start judging these teams after the calendar turns and they got 8 - 10 games under them.

That is quite a convincing win for Burnsville. 2 dominant performance against the highly (acquired) talent of the metro private powerhouses. 5 to 2 over Hill and 5 - 1 over BSM is no fluke. I hope Karl takes note of this to give credit where it is due. Congratulations to the Blaze team. Sounds like O'borsky, Moore and Labosky acted like 'citiots'. Now that is some classy hockey.

They didn't get out coached, just ask Pauly.

I watched the game online and to me it looked like Burnsville's #26,#4, and #21 shot Besse's line down. Solid defense by Burnsville.

Horton played center with Oborsky and Horn on his wings for almost the last two periods. I was so shocked I kept watching just so I could believe it was true. I get the PP thing but this was pure panic.

Kind of like Leslie Frazier deciding to use Percy Harvin to return kickoffs in the second half on Sunday. Sometimes you do what you think you need to do to win the game.

Early in the second? sure sends a message to your team that the guys up front aint gettin it done. I've watched this kid for years and Pauley hurt his team by playing his best player out of position. I have no problem feeding the kid more ice time but he wasn't even playing D when Burnsville was on the power play. Absolute panic on the part of Pauley and his team reflected it. I have nothing against Benilde or coach Pauley, these were just the observations of a neutral observer.

Sometimes a coach does need to send a message to his team, and one tactic is to do something different and unexpected to try to change the momentum. It obviously didn't work in this case, so it's easy to second guess.

If he had a concussion last week against Hill Murray and he played last night, Pauly should be fired. Has he not picked up the paper recently?
