This is the first match-up of the season for these two section 8AA rivals. It should be a good game.

5-2 Final
Wow. Rough section 8AA opener for the Rams.

Hopefully we can chalk this up to just a bad game. However, it was the first game in a long time that I can remember Roseau getting out hustled to every loose puck. Our lack of depth also showed tonight along with our weak defense. Lets hope we can figure it out by playoff time.

Would be nice to see both these teams lose come playoffs so Bemidji can make its way to the tourney for the first time in 25+ years (at least in AA).

Roseau will probably be #4 seed this year in 8AA.
The facts of being a small town catch up to almost all out state teams.
I still cheer for them but am a realist.

Yeah. Voting in the polls is definitely subjective this early in the season. Come January when teams have a larger body of work to judge them on, then the polls might actually match game results.
It seems Moorhead is better than expected. They're probably the best team Roseau's played so far. Although Grand Rapids would be a close second.
Roseau/Moorhead

Section 8AA could be WIDE OPEN come playoff time. Nostaglic Nerd - I too would like to see Moorhead and Roseau lose in the Playoffs, but I would like to see the Warriors advance to St. Paul for the 1st time ever!

Rams are too young to win the section title this year. Goaltending will not help them. Sophomores have some talent, but the Rams will not win the big games with sophomores.

Not so sure...it definitely looks like Moorhead is the team to beat so far. Just finished up a two-game sweep of Bemidji and Roseau.

I wouldn't just hand the section title to the Spuds this early in the season. Yes, the wins over Roseau and Bemidji help them with the section seeding, but things will get more muddled if Bemidji can split the season series with the Spuds when they play again on their home ice in February. I'm sure the Lumberjacks will be looking to redeem themselves after they came so close to winning in Moorhead. So I think it's a two-horse race at this point.
