Burnsville vs Duluth East

game of the day

by karl(east)
Burnsville 1
Duluth East 0

After 1

Dull period of dump-and-chase. The Hounds took control as the period wore on but took a late penalty, and Burnsville cashed in just as it expired.

Trevor Olson is seeing some ice time for East, but Nate Repensky is out for this one and it showed in the first period.

Burnsville 1
Duluth East 1

After 2

Goals: Senta for the Blaze, Olson for the Hounds.

Hounds controlled the majority of the play in the second, though the Blaze had a couple of nice flurries near the end that make the shot count (26-18) look a bit more even. Mallon making some huge saves for Burnsville, though Parker has stopped some quality chances as well. Pretty good defensive game.

How do they determine a winner in the event of a tie after regulation?

Toscano scores for the Hounds with 46 seconds left in the game. Looks like upset will be averted

Olson seals it with an open net goal to make it 4-2. That also completes that hat trick!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I was watching full-screen. For future reference, these games are available online, but at $8.95 a pop. http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/nsc.portal#

Nice job by the Hounds to come back after falling behind twice; they also had to kill off a penalty right before the winning goal. Trevor Olson scored the EN goal to record a hat trick in his first game back--he hasn't missed a beat. The Hounds really missed Repensky today...hopefully he will be ready to go tomorrow. It wasn't their finest game, but they did a good job to pull one out.

Shots were 40-22 East.

The Hounds outshot Burnsville 40-22. Mallon really kept the Blaze in it.

Burnsville's goalie played amazing. Major props to that kid, just shows you how a great goalie can keep a team alive. Nice to see Olson come back with a bang.

It ends as a tie officially, but then they do a shootout to see who goes where in the bracket.

Tonka up 3-1 after 1. Not bad (for HM) considering the score was 2-0 after just 20 seconds.

Shots are 21-5 in favor of Tonka

7-2 after 2, not really close. Shots 33-13.

Yikes! 7-2 Tonka after 2. Did Tonka step on the gas or just get a roll going? Watching the hub updates gives very little insight into the play.

I'm biased but even with final 7-3 it was very one sided. Shots were 55-27, lot of penalties in 3rd.

I felt DE is a step above the rest. They looked real good today. I did not see the Tonka / Hm game. Edina looked ok also.

Seriously? Mtka scores 2 goals in the first 20 seconds? Wow!
