Will only be my second East game of year, excited to see them play a Top Tier team. Who ya got?

Fair assessment. Probably the most physical game East has played thus far, though Moorhead's chippy play too often came after the whistle.karl(east) wrote:A mildly adventurous third period--a couple of defensive lapses, and not Dylan Parker's finest night--but the Hounds did what they needed to do. The Olson-Toscano-Valesano line had a big game; I continue to be a fan of the new line combinations. The first two periods were comparable to the effort against Maple Grove, while the third period was a bit choppy.
Moorhead was rather chippy; the game involved a lot of penalties and a scrum in the Moorhead net late in the third. The Spuds had some nice moments in the early third when they maintained their discipline, and Bitzer made a bunch of good saves to keep it somewhat close. Shots were 46-17, and that was pretty indicative of the gameplay.
Nice to see a packed house at the Heritage Center once again tonight. I hope that continues through the rest of the season.
Sounds about right--Moorhead knew they had to be physical to have a chance, and they did a decent job of imposing their style on the game. They clogged up the passing lanes better than some of the other teams East has faced recently, though I could have done without the chippiness. It got a little ugly at times, but fortunately there weren't any lasting consequences.mnmouth wrote:Fair assessment. Beaulieu had his best period of the year in the first, when the Hounds rang three off the pipe, twice within 30 seconds, and one off the crossbar. Two were by Beaulieu, to go along with his 2 goals.
East lacklusterly cruised through a 2-man advantage in the second, wheeling and passing, with little shooting and zero goals. From then on, but the Spuds carried the play into the third, when they used quick bursts of pressure to score three goals.
Give credit to Moorhead for not backing down. Give credit to East for winning ugly.

As much as I wanted to believe Tonka simply didn't bring their best against DE, I really think Randolph will have to get seriously outcoached or a goalie stand on their head for DE to lose an elimination game this year. Yeah it happens, but that team is very, very good and props to them.
Infection of the wrist. Should be back for the Minnetonka game on 1/21.SportsNorthFan wrote:Where has defenseman Nate Repensky been for the Hounds?
The line to get in and buy tickets was pretty long at 6:30 or so. Don't know what time you got there but I think they only had one ticket booth opened. Whether that's poor planning or what, I have no idea.Bigcat99 wrote:Very impressed with what I saw in first two periods by East. Although I stood in line for almost a full half hour to get in. But that's another boring topic.
Yeah, got in the outside doors about 6:40, and walked up the stairs to see the scoreboard at the 10:00 mark of the first period. Right after the game started, some guy was walking around with a roll of adult tickets, but of course, he was only taking exact amounts of cash. When I got to the window, they did have a second person though. Oh well.east hockey wrote:The line to get in and buy tickets was pretty long at 6:30 or so. Biggest crowd I've seen at the Heritage in the four years it's been open.
At least they had both concession stands open.
