This should be a great warm up for the playoffs lots of top teams in this tourney. I like how they spread the top teams out in each pool. There isn't a patsy in any pool for White Bear to get an easy road into bracket play. Props to them. Are their any top players out with injuries that we should know about?

Should be a very good test. Current rankings in LPH this tourney has 9 top 20 teams in it and 3 top 20 teams in each pool, good job WBL for spreading it out. The tourney also has 6 of the top 7 teams currently.

Pool C looks to be the hardest to come out but no team has an easy walk to the semi's.

As for injury's I know Wayzata has 3 players out right now.

On a side note it should be a good test for WBL Eastview Lakeville North Wayzata OMG Woodbury to see how they stack up against each other as they are all in the same region, in that region Stillwater, Sibley, Farmington and Rosemount are also in it. That and the D6 region will not be easy to come out of come playoff time.

Was anyone at this game that has any insight? Did WBL come out flat, CP have a hot goalie, penalties??

Good win for Champlin Park, they have to feel pretty good about taking down one of the top teams in state.

Lakeville North is a good test... perhaps they made it difficult for Wayzata?

Good win for Champlin Park, they have to feel pretty good about taking down one of the top teams in state.

WBL hit four posts with solid shots. CP hit 2. Penalties were in WBL's favor ~ 7-3. Both of their goals were on the power play. They come out of their own zone fast and CP skated with them. WBL may have played the lesser of their goalies anticipating an easier game. Two of CP's goals were on break aways where WBL defense lost foot races.

Motivation appeared to be in CP's favor. The privilege of picking who you play first in your own tournament always belongs to the host team and WBL may have underestimated CP in this one.

I was shocked at the lack of passion displayed by the Bears. To me, it looked like they expected to win, and didn't put forth a solid effort. Just when you think the Bears were going to take over after catching up 2-2 in the 3rd, they give up a break away on a block shot from the point.

#4 isnt quit accurate on a couple things, but mostly ok. The Actual penalties were 5 on CP and 1 on WBL. WBL did hit 3 posts (not 4) and Champlin 2. I was the statistician for the game.

WBL I think did overlookdCP and CP converted on the quality scoring chances they did get.

Qulality shots were 10-5 in favor of WBL and total shots were 34-18 WBL.

Champlin Parks goalie played extremly well but so did the team, they kept a pretty high powered offense to the outside most of the night and limited the good scoring chances as much as they could.

WBL really overlooked Champlin on this one and #4 was right, Champlin had much more to prove playing a much much higher ranked team and the tournmanet host as well.

I dont think WBL had its best on this night, but give CP credit, they deserved the win at least on this night.

CP took a 1-0 lead on a breakaway 10 minutes into the first period on a great individual play. This was a short handed goal where the CP player out raced two D to the puck and went in on a breakway and scored. This was the only penalty in the period.

The second period was more of the same, WBL slightly out playing CP, but CP playing great team defense and getting great goaltending to keep the score 1-0 CP going into the 3rd. Only one penalty in the period and it was on WBL (the only penalty on WBL)

The 3rd period saw CP go up 2-0 about 3 minutes into the period on another very good play by two CP players and a nice goal.

With CP up 2-0 - CP took 3 straight penalties in 8 minutes and WBL made them pay, with 2 nice power play goals in a row. WBL is now feeling pretty good and has the momemtum and a 2-2 tie and anotehr PP starting. CP kills this penalty and gets a little swagger back. CP then scores about a minute after the kill on another breakawy where 2 D get beat to a puck race and CP goes up 3-2.

The last 5 minutes of play was extremly exciting with both teams palying really hard, WBL is pressuring and CP is playing great team defense and really limitiing the qulaity chances. WBL pulls the goalie with about 1:40 left in the game and CP misses at least 2 great chances to ice the game and holds on for the win.

WBL is a quality team and their palyers were classy even in the upset loss. They are coached well and their parents were great as well.

This is a perfect example of why you play the game and my guess is this (in the long run) will help WBL to not over look any oponnent. On this night CP was the better team.

Since this is Pool Play, WBL can actually still win this tournament and for CP although a great win, it wont mean much if they dont follow it up with 2 more wins.

I also understand WBL did not play what Im told is the better goalie, but I can say this, the WBL goalie did not play poorly at all. Maybe the game would have been differnt, but maybe not? Its hard to say, we will never know. None of the 3 goals CP scored were soft...

Sorry for the spelling, this thing needs spell check!

I dont know if you were at the game but i dont believe the score indicated the play of the game. Although LN played them close in the first period, i thought Wayzata outplayed them in the 2nd and 3rd. LN goalie played very well and the LN goal was on a "likely" missed high stick. Also, Arguably their best defenseman is out aswell.

nice read dreampuck. Well done

WBL should be congtatulated on perhaps the most balancef draw in any tourney this year.

Wayzata is still a clear cut #1 in state but is in a pool with 3 very "game" opponents , as duluth, centennial and lakeville are all very capable of beating any team on any given night

The C pool features the 3rd ranked team in stat (OMG) ans the 7 th ranked team in syate (EP). Eden Prairie has shown they can play with (and beat) anyone, and the previous EP/OMG game ended in a tie, so should be an inyeresting battle. Tough draw for Rochester, although they have beaten EP this year, OMG just mowed through their tourbament, outscoring lakeville' roaemount, eastview and CR a combined 22-3 to take the hardware. Diddo for Woodbury, who's only prior game against tgese teams was a 4-0 shutouy loss against an OMG team who are 9-0 and outscoring D8's best teams 50-16

Burnsville is the class of Pool A but WBL is right on their heels. The bears have shown a knackthis season, for rising to the occasion, however , with wins ivee wayzata , edina and OMG . The burnsville/ wbl game ahould be the wildcard game determiner, even with the wbl loss to champlin

Wayzata v burnsville
OMG v WBL
Wayzata over OMG

My spelling much worse than yours ... damn smart phone not so smart

Welcome Back Scorekeeper

Clear cut #1? They've lost to Edina twice - and last week lost WBL I believe.

Wayzata is 40-5-2 with only two regulation losses that being to Edina and WBL. We won't factor the 2 losses by Shattuck otherwise they are 40-7-2

That being said... I think Wayzata should have #1 as they really have not had any shaky losses where Edina and WBL have, however they could very easily have the notch for the #1 spot as well

I would say we should have a clear #1 after this weekend plus Wayzata plays Edina next Sunday in there last matchup unless they were to meet first round in state.

WBL 4 Bville 4,if Bville shortens its bench as did WBL,this game doesn't end in a tie,Bville holds on to the lead, just my opinion,be nice now

So true....last week our formula had them basically tied....Edina was ahead into the hundredths of a point. Wayzata is trending to pass the cake eaters by Monday...no surprise really.

This game was very similar to the Bears game the previous night vs CP. Bears control play and are in the offensive zone majority of the game, but everytime the opponent gets into the Bears zone, it ends up a goal. As mentioned by a previous post, Bears defense does lack speed.

So I take it your son is a "F" on the White Bear team? How did Burnsville do against Champlin this AM?
