AHA 2 Chan 2 after 2 shots 27 - 23 Chan. I would say this maybe the worst refed game I have seen called all year. Two 5 min majors called on each team at the same time on clean open ice hits. Then a Dman gets ran from the blind side and nothing called.

AHA and Chan tied at 3 going to OT.

Great game by the Pioneers at St. Thomas tonight. They came out flying. They played with the lead starting at 14 seconds in. Jake Guentzel had 4 assists and was the best player on the ice. Charlie Sampair scored his 17th goal of the season. Zach LaValle is very tough in front of the net and forced one in by out-battling several Cadets. John Dugas was very solid in goal and stopped several good scoring chances for the Cadets. *The Vannelli brothers were their usual fun selves behind the STA bench. Big win for HM. Nice crowd.

Fun facts: HM 65-15 all time vs. STA and now 4 straight.

Prior Lake over Apple Valley 5 to 4 in OT - Apple Vally gave up the last 4 goals - 3 in the third and 1 in OT...

Any word on Breck/Blake?

Well not the best game for Maple Grove tonight. Score could and should have been much higher. They came out flat in the second period and didn't play with the consistancy needed to be a top 5 team. Hate to rip on my own team but if they continue to play like this anything can happen come sections.

Chanhassen had a goal disallowed and another possible goal appeared to end game in OT. Video will show this game to be officiated terribly. Both sides had penaltys that were real head scratchers. I am glad we are trying to make the game safer, I am not glad we are giving officials permission to alter outcomes.
This tie was a bigger loss for AHA than Chanhassen. AHA will not win the Missota this year..

What's HM's record versus St. Thomas since 2004?

I am pretty sure before '04, St. Thomas' hockey program was awful.

Sorry this game would not have changed the outcome of the conference. AHA already had two losses and a tie. In order for AHA to have won the conference, someone would have needed to beat Chanhassen two more ties.

What the outcome does decide it who is going to get the fourth and fifth seed in the section. If AHA had won, they get the number 4 spot. If Chanhassen won, they get the number 4. A tie?
My instinct is AHA will get the fourth seed, because of strength of schedule...but since coaches decide, the edge may go to Chanhassen. Either way, these two will be number 4 and number 5.

So, Chann beats and ties AHA. They potentially win conference and AHA gets a higher seed because they played a tough schedule and lost majority of these games by big margins, and they get a higher seed? Let's hope the coaches approach seeding with a little different perspective. It strikes me that for many years AHA used conference dominanace as a badge of honor. Now that they are in the middle of the pack, their strong schedule is what matters. With this thinking , I better understand why they did not play Shattuck.

Actually AHA winning their conference handily all those years were a detriment to the team. How, when you are dominant, do you prep yourself to play a team like Edina or Duluth East when you beat up on lesser teams.
This prediction is more my guess. I am not a coach only a fan. Politics plays a large part in the deciding of seeding for the section. No need to worry, these two teams will be 4 and 5. One of them wins one loses and the winner faces Edina. Nuff said....

I was at the prayer service in Mendota last night. Here are my comments:

1. HM got off to a quick start and stun the Cadets
2. When the Cadets got moving, they couldn't finish around the net.
3. Dugas played solid in the nets for HM.
4. HM defense is very weak. If you fore check them, they will turn the puck over continuously.
5. The FR from STA (#15), has incredible hands. I can recall three times he undressed the HM defensemen.
6. Charlie Sampair has a gear unmatched by anyone. Is he going anywhere next year?
7. This was my first time attending a HS game between two privates. Was this really a nice crowd? There is only seating on one side, and that wasn't even full.

Oh, wait, I forgot one. In the middle of the second period, there were three consecutive elbowing penalties called in a short time span. IMO, every one of them could have been called a hit to the head. I found it interesting that the refs weren't going to give a team a 5 minute major in this conference deciding game.

The ST Ice Arena has seats for 1,500 and standing room for another 200. I would estimate the crowd at 1,000. That would have packed an arena the size of Vadnais - for example.

....this is why the "lesser teams" are now beating up on AHA....

Successful private schools often have alumni capable of conquering new areas of the globe.

Thankfully, they have televised webcasts to help alumni keep up with the Alma Mater.
