Denfeld-Hermantown Fight

Why is no one talking about this? It was the first high school fight I have seen in 6 years that was actually a gloves dropped, helmets off fist fight. 2 DQ's for Denfeld and 1 for Hermantown. I dont know how #25 from Denfeld got so lucky. Apparently no one saw him throw a haymaker at the Hermantown kid, he was not penalized. (Unfortunately for him its all on tape) I mean personally I loved it, typical Denfeld style but how does this affect Hermantown? I believe the one kid from Hermantown dropped the gloves, which I believe is an automatic two game suspension? Plus the game DQ and automatic suspension. If a few Hawks end up with the mandatory time out, is there a chance they lose their undefeated season? I haven't seen who they play so it could be a cupcake.

The player in question received a 4:00 double minor for roughing.
Hermantown lost their #8 and #13 scorers and Denfeld lost their #5 scorer, but sounds like they should've lost their #13 scorer too.
Interesting and unfortunate.

Agreed... Man, this isn't Basketball.

OR, at least USA Hockey hasn't made it into THAT, yet!

I don't know how long this thread can stay respect, but thanks for the video, it was very informative.
The question I have for those who know the rules better than I: if another player is breaking a rule such as fighting, how much does a player simply have to take getting hit? And at what point are they crossing the line?
For example, I have rewatched the 10 seconds from the initial hit til where #25 takes a Hermantown player down. It appeared that at first that he was holding a Hermantown player back, like any defenseman would, then skating away, getting punched in the face, swinging back and putting in a headlock the guy who just punched him in the face.
I may be a little liberal on my interpretation of what happens, but where is that line drawn in general? Are we telling players "let yourself get punched in the head"?
Thanks

Thanks for the link.
I don't see this as a big deal at all, even though certain players will probably get suspended for it. You could make cases for both teams that they were defending their players. I'm not sure if I saw the "gloves dropped, helmets off" fight mentioned above...but players should defend themselves and their teammates. It's a physical sport played by teenagers...of course their emotions will get the best of them every now and then.
With that said, I respected the fact that no one did anything "too stupid" (aka have someone come off the bench, attack someone while they're down, malicious intent, etc. ).

One player from each team got a DQ. A double minor went to one Denfeld player and the other Hermantown player got 5 for checking from behind. The kid from Denfeld who got the double minor threw more punches than anyone else. But as was previously said, it was not that big of a deal.

Only one player total is listed with a misconduct (I do not believe DQ is a technical HS hockey call).
Does fighting come with an implied misconduct or is it just a regular 5 min major?

Fighting is a auto SQ to my knowledge. #5 from Htown and #19I from Denfeld. They were the only ones to leave the ice.

I think we need to pool together some cash and take EHS out on the town a little more. If that's what you classify as a HS hockey fight...

Yep, nothing to see here, time to move on.....
Gloves dropped, helmets off fist fight? More like a wrestling match on ice where the helmets popped off during the tussles.....

I hear this saying alot, overused and boring to be specific. I would like to see the video of 1 or 2 monkeys trying to hump a football so i can compare. Maybe you could help, sounds like you have seen this before. Mirror perhaps.

A couple of kids got their nose out of joint and did some pushing and shoving and that was about it. It was not an MMA style fight, it really wasn't a very good hockey fight. The problem with hockey right now is that with it becoming so politically correct and with all of these people with their agendas to remove contact from hockey to the point that it looks like girls hockey that the sport if being wrecked. Hockey is a sport that requires several different skill sets and yes, hitting is one of them. This "fight" would not even have gotten mentioned here last year but this year it is a big deal. This is a huge pendulum that is swinging way too far to the girls side of the scale right now. Did they screw up? Yes, they did. Punished? Yup. What new rules will get enacted because of it? Gloves have to be tape on? Sticks super glued to the gloves? At least this time the refs did their jobs and maintained control on the ice so that is improving.
THis whole movement is crazy and I will be happy when sane people regain control of both the high school and youth hockey worlds.

If you add the word "illegal" between the words "remove" and "contact" the beginning of your post would be dead on.
All the wrestling on ice started when one player was checked from behind after the whistle. (Which is, by the way, against the rules) I'd be fine with enacting the rule "if you check someone from behind after the whistle you don't play another minute the rest of the season." In the interest of safety of course.
