Easier Path to State - Eagan or HM

We all know that the SEC is not very good this year. But looking at the standings, it looks like the top 4 teams (WBL, RV, Still, MV) move to Section 4AA , while the bottom 5 (Hast, CDH, Park, ER, WB) move on to Section 3AA. For the SSC, it appears outside of Eagan, the better teams move on to other Sections (BV, LS, PL, BJ).

I am going with Eagan.

Eagan probably has an easier path to state. Yes, they did lose a close one to Burnsville last night, but I don't think that's too indicative of how things will go come playoff time. Hill-Murray barely beat a potential upset opponent in North St. Paul last week. And factor in the rivalry component with White Bear, and anything can happen on a given night.

Let's be real though, that is the nature of any section hockey game. Typically the 12 seed won't upset 1, but within those top 6 seeds, anything can happen. I think that HM and Eagan both have strong enough teams to make it to state this year, but I also thought that there was about a 99% chance Hill would make it last year as well. I think that the loss to Burnsville came at a key time for Eagan, it should help them refocus and get fired up for sections and state, they are still a very good hockey team and will get a chance to prove that at state.

Eagan reminds me (minus 2011) of the Twins, great regular season team but can't find the mojo to get past the challenging games. I know Burnsville can play good puck at times but the COMPLETE meltdown against Jefferson is something I can't look past. I see a upset in the making.
