8AA Semi-Final - Roseau vs Moorhead 2/25/12 , 4:30pm

These two teams seem to battle every year in the 8AA section finals, but this year they will meet in the semi-finals.

The last regular season game went into OT with Moorhead coming out on top. This game will probably also be a close battle. Who comes out on top?

Elliot....or anyone with info on why the section 8AA final game is not set...
I see the 8A games are all at Warroad? Not really a neutral site.
As for 8AA its TRF, Bemidji, Fargo, or ST. Cloud. Depending on a neutral site? As I see it TRF is the obvious site for 8AA every year, neutral site and by far the best High School Hockey arena in the state. As for 8A, why not Bemidji? Its neutral to all 8A teams and also a top notch arena. I would enjoy not driving to a game but playing in the Fargo Force (Scheels Arena) in Fargo is just not Minnesota hockey. As for St Cloud really? The top teams in the section are Moorhead, Bemidji, Brainerd and Roseau......not really central to any of these teams.

AA is not set just because of travel costs and time.
Why would Roseau - Bemidji final be in St Cloud?
Why would a Moorhead - Brainerd final be in Thief River Falls?
It is a good move by Region 8AA administration to set the final where it makes sense for the teams involved.

For many, many years 8A has been on a revolving cycle between Warroad, Thief River Falls and East Grand Forks.
Perhaps the final should be in Bemidji.

I believe Bemidji will stay AA.
They lose a lot and will take their lumps next year.
But the bantam team is okay. The starting goalie this year is a freshman.
Next year the team will be very young and will probably not gain enough experience to be in the top group by play-offs, but after next year they have some kids that can really contribute, maybe not state bound but have a shot.

People really stretch to make these Marvin's jokes work. Do a little homework before you post.

In what scenario does it make sense to have Fargo as an option? Not only is it not in Minnesota, but what section final matchup would warrant having the game in Fargo as a central location for the 2 teams?

This is much better than calling my mom and asking her to lay the phone next to the radio.

Congrats to Our Rams

I just want to congratulate this fine group of Roseau Ram Hockey players on a good game and a good season. They fought hard, and I for one am proud of each and everyone of them.

Jared Strand had a great game in net, and kept our Rams close, but hats off to Moorhead for their victory. They had the better team this year, and deserved to win.

I especially want to say thanks to the graduating seniors for these many years of great hockey. I've been following this group of guys since they were tiny mites. They are all excellent hockey players, but more importantly; they are all fine young men who have made Roseau proud both on and off the ice. You will be greatly missed.

Best wishes, The Roseau Hockey Fan

Rams had a tough year and played well at times. If they could have gotten fired up more often, like they always do (and did) against the Taters, their season would've had a different ending. I'm not worried - they'll be back. They're always "in your face" !
