Tom Osiecki, a St. Paul native, received his high school diploma from St. Agnes and his BS and MA degrees from the University of St. Thomas.

Since 1964, he has been involved with teaching and/or coaching some form of ice hockey. He coached at St. Agnes from 1964-1966 and at Burnsville High School from 1966 to 1990. Tom scouted for the Minnesota North Stars and Dallas Stars from 1990 to 1995. He returned to coaching, this time with the girl's program, at Burnsville in 1996. He left to help start the University of Wisconsin-Madison's hockey program in 1999. He is currently head coach of the St. Olaf women's hockey team.

Osiecki's teams won championships in the Central Catholic, Missota, Southern Minnesota, and Lake Conferences. While at Burnsville, his teams won two state championships in 1985 and 1986 and were runners-up in 1983 and 1987. They won five consecutive section championships from 1983-87 and won again in 1990.

His team's successes have led to a number of coaching honors, such as 3-time section Coach of the Year, and being inducted into the Coach's Hall of Fame in 1995. Tom also served as president of the Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association in the late 80's.

Besides coaching hockey, Tom has also coached football, baseball, and girl's badminton (4 state championships).

Tom said it has been gratifying to have worked with a great group of athletes, assistant coaches, and played against a tremendous group of opposing coaches. He is especially proud of starting the hockey programs at Burnsville, Wisconsin-Madison (women) and St. Olaf (women). However, Osiecki said he is most proud of his wife, Bev, sons, Mark and Matt, and grandchildren, Emily and Jake.

Tom is a great guy and coach! I believe in the 80's Burnsville was trying to fire him and many lake conference coaches went to a school board meeting to speak on his behalf. Lucky they did. Great honor and well deserving!

Great coach. Some would argue that there were some Burnsville teams that had no right being in the state championship game 4 out of 5 years from 83-87, but he always had them peaking at the right time and playing good hockey. MOST would argue that the their 2nd championship in a row (86)-there were many teams much better, but Tom did what he did best and got his players going at the right time. Don't get me wrong, they were dripping with talent in those days, but its very difficult to pull it all together and finish strong at the end of the year. I think the biggest testament to him was his sons. Mark and Matt. Neither one overly talented, but both worked extremely hard and developed a great skill set, both went on the play div 1 hockey Mark-(UW), Matt-(Notre Dame) and Mark played many years in the NHL. A true sign of what really hard work and intelligence can do.

A very nice man and a great teacher, had him for many phy ed classes at BHS, Id ask him about coaching the braves and he had some great stories and he loved to talk about those teams. Since i was a youngster back then i never played for him but i was in the those Lake Coaches Hockey Clinics with Tom Osiecki and Saterdahlen and Bianchi and it was great being taught by those guys
