Parker must have played great; 35 shots by Eagan, only one goal!

Nice to see the Hounds bounce back from Thursday's loss and win the consolation title. Not what their goal was, to be sure, but still a nice way to cap off a great season.

Agreed - too bad the rest of the state did not get to see them at their best, especially with their puck movement. They were fun to watch all year.

I agree on the fun to watch part, congratulations on a great season Hounds. Beating Edina and Eagan to end the season is finishing strong!

It was a bittersweet day at Mariucci. Both teams played well; Eagan had a nice forecheck rolling early on, but the East D was up to the task--they all had a great day, along with Parker.

On the scoreboard shots were 36-25, though I didn't think they were being kept very accurately. Eagan probably had more, but the shots did not reflect gameplay. Eagan did have some nice chances and Parker made some big saves, but East looked very good today. If they'd have played like they did in this one for three games, they would have won the thing without a whole lot of trouble. But, of course, that's neither here nor there now. It was good to see them play with pride, especially that brilliant power play firing on all cylinders one last time.

Props to the Wildcats for another strong season, and to this senior class, who really put their program on the map.

Thanks again to the East Class of 2012. I always thank the seniors at this point, but I have to say that this group had a little something extra. They played hard, they played as a team, and in watching from a distance, it seemed like they were also great friends. They were fine leaders who stuck around to chase a dream, and though they may not have achieved it, they have an awful lot to be proud of. They have set a fine example for all those who come after them. Kotter, Skoog, Lofstuen, and Bergland filled their roles well. Kyle Campion has a spot in my memory for his admirable fill-in job on defense in the title game last year. Stephen Holappa is a fine third-line workhorse (and had a big game today). Trevor Olson was a fine leader and has a bright hockey future ahead of him. Jake Randolph was born to be a hockey player and played like it; his tears at the end of the South game will be my enduring memory of this tournament. Nate Repenksy was about as solid as they come for high school defensemen, and was one of my favorites to watch. And then there's Dom Toninato, who was simply a joy to watch, and put the team on his back to get them back up in the consolation round. If I were to pick a favorite, he might be it.

Thanks again, boys. It's hard to know what the future will hold for East hockey, but the day to worry about that will come. For now, I'll just relax and enjoy our title game and reflect on these past few years.

East's power play was 3 for 4 and that was a big difference in the game. The goaltending advantage was also in East's favor. Eagan's forecheck was strong today, creating lots of scoring chances but East did a really good job of getting in the shooting lanes and blocking shots. Overall it was an entertaining game to watch. Definitely a bittersweet game because there were lots of very good high school hockey seniors on both teams, several of which will go on to junior hockey and college hockey at the D1 level.
