Edina's Defensemen Baker and Bakke. Had Giles not cut these two Varsity would have won state! Big mistake on his part and big gift to Jr. Gold A team.

Politics in Edina hockey brought varsity down big time.

Bakke and Baker are good but not varsity good. the goalie Dalbac should have been on varsity but you can't blame giles for not cutting the assistant coaches kid

"Not varsity good"? what does that mean? in most any other HS system (besides Edina and the other big assn's); the top JGA kids would definatley be on varsity. And tryouts are subjective in addition to politics. some of these kids woudl have done just fine on varisty. Too bad the HS coaches are going for the young kids and not rewarding maturity, perserverance. Wonder what the system was like when the HS coaches were in HS; I doubt the seniors were getting cut to make room for the 10th graders...

Either way it is great that JGA exists; it is a blast and some kids prefer it over the HS system.
