Leaving early for 12-13

I think we have this list every year. Who, with a high degree of certainty, are leaving their high school program early or not entering at all in favor of juniors, Ann Arbor or other hockey options. Please include high school being left behind, where that player is headed, and his grade next season:

I think we hit 21 players last season. I would expect similar this season, including most of the juniors who would otherwise contend for Mr. Hockey.

He played in a game with them tonight so it is pretty public knowledge.

Congratulations and good luck to Keegan. Hopefully he can bring a first round draft pick back to Minnesota in 2014!

What are the different options (leagues) for students leaving high school? This league has Keegan moving to Canada, being paid to play and, as the article eludes to, dropping out of a high school. Is this true?
What are the different options and which generally provide the best options to players for development?

The league Keegan is playing is pays players basically a stipend. Some players get paid lucrative deals, but only the cream of the crop. Keegan will be required to go to high school by the team, and will receive an education package depending on the amount of years he plays. His education package is void if he decides to sign a professional contract.
Here is some information on the Junior leagues in North America -
Canada Major Junior (WHL OHL QMJHL) - Typically considered the "fastest" route to the NHL. Wouldn't recommend going if you aren't from Canada unless you are an absolute rock in the classrooom.
US Junior Hockey
Tier I -
United States Hockey League - Typically used by both Canadians and Americans to go to the Division I level.
Tier II -
North American Hockey League - Used by both Candians and Americans to play Division I or III
Tier III - Eastern Junior Hockey League is probably the best league out of these options. All of the others rarely (if ever) send players directly DI. EJHL sends a handful of guys to Eastern schools each year.

Eastern Junior Hockey League
Atlantic Junior Hockey League
Central States Hockey league
Northern Pacific Hockey League
Western States Hockey league
Canadian Junior Hockey: It is really hit or miss with most of these organizations in Canada.
Alberta Junior Hockey League
British Columbia Hockey League
Central Junior A Hockey League
Maritime Junior A Hockey League
Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League
Quebec Junior AAA League
Manitoba Junior Hockey League
Northern Ontario Jr Hockey League
Superior International Hockey League
Ontario Hockey Association

Now when Keegan is playing in the NHL 5-6 years from now dont claim he is a minnesota highschool product like FSN does with some other players because he won't be

Why isn't he a MN High school product? He has played 3 HS hockey seasons at Breck, the same as most kids.

i have tons of respect for that organization, i've spoken with one of their scouts a handful of times. Great guy and i love what they say about no right or wrong path. Very true. Unlike in the OHL where teams have berated players for not choosing to play for them... Best of luck to Keegan and the Winterhawks

“In the end, we tell them that they have great options in Portland or at college, but that the most important thing for them is to be informed.

I heard about this possibility a few months ago but wasn't sure if it would pan out. Looks like there is a good chance Nanne might play in Penticton next season.

Probably going there to improve his scoring touch? Sounds like a great league to make the transition to D1 hockey.

The Vees went 54-6 and had 8 or 9 players that averaged over a point a game. Yeah, I guess it would be fun.

Fun and good for development are two totally different animals. He should work on mastering his high school game first.

Nothing to be gained from another year of HS. Needs to move on and see if he can justify his Gopher spot.
