The USHL GM/Coaches don't care if a kid wants to go to college or not, they want to get the best players they can so they can keep their jobs. It's a business and they are paid to win, getting kids to college is nice, but that doesn't keep their job or moving to the next level.Hscout000 wrote:Would be shocked if Walker is selected since it is rumored he is going to the WHL. Look for Gersich to probably go very early, along with a couple of the Shattuck kids. Thinking quite a few Minnesota kids will be drafted. Something interesting will be to see if some kids that didn't make it to NY get picked while some that did make it don't get selected.
The USHL has to focus its attention on top kids that seem interested in maintaining their college eligibility because that is the league's biggest "differentiator" against the CHL. They aren't going to win many battles against the CHL for top kids that "don't care" about playing NCAA hockey. That's just a reality. If they draft kids who don't care about NCAA, odds are they won't end up bringing many of those kids in because those kids will just chose to play in the CHL.mulefarm wrote:The USHL GM/Coaches don't care if a kid wants to go to college or not
It's highly likely that most of them will be playing MSHSL next season. This is the futures draft, meaning that they might not be ready now, but their rights are owned for the future. A couple might be playing in the USHL though. Obviously Omaha thinks Gersich is ready.grandmeadowhockeyfan wrote:Here is a fan question. Most kids will be back next year in High School. The teams have only secured the rights to the player if they choose to play in the USHL. Honestly Puckster.....You are correct on this. The individual players displayed there ability with the tools they were taught not the Blades. Even though they belonged to the Blades it was the players that excelled. Fortunately for the Blades they can have bragging rights that there organization got them there, but essentially it is the individual that comprehends and retains what is instilled in themselves not only from Summer hockey, but also Winter.
