Select 14's?

Is there a Select 14 process in Minnesota? I know there is 15,16 and 17 but I was wondering about 14's. I heard there was a 14 group going to Ann Arbor this Summer. If true why isn't it on Mn Hockey website? Anyone know if their is truth to this? Is it 97 and 98 players?

I like that MN is finally sending some boys to the 14 camp but I'm surprised MN Hockey and USA Hockey are letting it happen this way. Privately selected players without a District level tryout like 15s, 16s and 17s? 35? What are they going to do? Who are they going to play? Why should these players get the opportunity over other deserving, and in several instances better, players. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems suspect.

Is M Anderson the younger brother of J Anderson? If so it appears their dad played the same trump card as he did when they tried out for the WI Fire, You take them both or you don't get J!!! Amazing, I wonder how many other 98s would have loved the opportunity.

This would be sad if true for the KIDS...

J . Anderson's younger brother isn't going to this camp. It must be someone else.

Is this the same group that Bellows brought to the Independent Classic last weekend and won the 97 Invite level? Hard to believe that BB would be involved in anything that lacked integrity.

Observer Minnesota Hockey is not sending a 14 yr old team to any camp. The USA Hockey Camp your talking about for 14's is in Rochester NY and Minnesota Hockey will not send our kids to this camp. There is a fall and spring development camp the Minnesota Hockey runs. This program you are talking about is nothing more than a money grab! I feel sorry for those kids and there parents. I wounder how much they had to pay to play on this team?

Thanks.
So, just a couple of teams going to play in a AAA tourney in MI? Or, not even a tourney but just a few games? Maybe the initial poster was just trying to create some buzz?

That is the problem with all these AAA teams to many games and not enough development.

The program reads that 30 players will be divided into two teams. The teams will practice and play a series of games. Players will get tour of NTDP facility and meet staff. Games and practices will be scouted by NTDP staff, college and jr teams. First opportunity for Mn kids to be seen at national level.

Wow-a few B1 players get to be seen. Kind of goes to show there are plenty of A players playing B1 in big associations.

That sound like a great deal meeting the staff and a tour! What is the cost for all this fun? $280 for fuel, $300 for hotels, $300 for food, and what to play on this team and people call that exposure.

If your good enough they will find you. Sounds like fun!

Do you have to go or are they asking you to pay ? No so why do you care. Perhaps your jealous.
And no my kid isn't on the list. He's not that good but I have no problem seeing other MN kids do well.

I don't know all these kids but I don't think there are too many B1 players listed there ... if they are they are probably playing B1 as first year in big assoc. with very good A teams.
Kudos to these kids.
Don't have kid on list but know some and good to see them do well.

No your right. I do not have to go nor do I want to go because I know this is nothing that will advance players nor will it give them national exposer. I will leave you with this as a parting thought. "If your good enough they will find you" If you have to run to all of these so called exposure event you are only chasing you're dream instead allowing your son or daughter to grow as a player and experience the game the way they want to.

Only 4 posts with such an axe to grind, too bad your kid didn`t make the list. Your taking this way to personal soft one to be an impartial observer.
Sounds like this was started because the evaluators at St Cloud left off a kid that made the national program, this is a way that USA hockey can see Minnesota`s talent without having to rely on the select process.
It must be pretty good if the experts on here are ripping on the process.

First off I have no skin in the game, and no I have no axe to grind just want to tell the truth. If you can to USA Hockey’s website and view this so called national exposer tournament I would be glad to stop telling the truth. You make reference to evaluators at St. Cloud what are you talking about is there such a camp for 14 year olds? Again I will state if you’re good enough they will find you! As to reference to experts I am just a coach and I don’t agree with this type of check book hockey as it will only create more helicopter parents and that is what is wrong with this sport!
