Does anyone have an opinion on Jr. fest? My daughter was placed in pool B, are the pools split equally or is it a definate A and B level between pools? I am just curious if I wasted a couple hundred dollars.

Definite A and B level but I presume like all things....there will be very little difference between the top B players and lower A players.

For girls that just completed their junior year or for girls who will be juniors in the fall?

Funny that you think you may have wasted $200 based on your daughter's placement.

Junior Fest is what your daughter makes of it. If you are worried about the money, you shouldn't be doing it. But, if you want your daughter to play in a fun tournament and be exposed to potential college opportunities. Go for it.

I know my daughter played on a "B" team in 2011 that ended up defeating the top"A" team. She had a bunch of colleges both DI and DIII cantacting her after Juniorfest.

The only reason I say wasted the fee, is I thought I read on here, a while back that someone didn't feel there was much attention on the "B" poolfrom the colleges. With that logic,I would say it may not be worth the fees, not to have some colleges watch you. If what you are looking for is some college level exposure. It is my understanding that getting scouts to see the girls is the whole point of Jr. fest.

My daughter was looking forward to Jr. fest, more so than Adv 17.

My daughter participated in Jr Fest several years ago. She had aspirations for MANY years that she not only wanted to go to college BUT she also wanted to continue playing the sport she loves (hockey, of course). I did what I could for her by paying for a variety of "extra" hockey games/tournaments for many years including Jr Fest, Selects, Senior Classic, etc.

She was in the "B" pool at Jr Fest and her team did not fair very well. However, she was later contacted by two D III teams and they both said they saw her at Jr Fest. Needless to say, she has now completed her freshman year of college with honors AND played DIII hockey. She says she is so glad she played and she even has her Jr Fest jersey hanging on the wall as a reminder. We are from a very small town and I really believe that had she NOT participated, she would NOT be able to continue her dream of playing college hockey.

If your daughter has those same dreams, think of this as an opportunity and an investment rather than a waste of money........ Good luck to you and your daughter as well.

All seniors in the fall?

If your daughter wants to play college hockey at any level, the Jr festival will do nothing but bring a better end result.

Go with a good attitude, play hard and have fun.

The only negative I've seen from attending are the players that tend to be very good singularly, but not so much in a team format. That tends to stand out in a negative light when playing with unfamiliar team mates.

I have had both my daughters play this. One was on a "B" Team that won the whole tourney and one that was on a "B" team that lost every game. Both recieved interests from college teams after playing.
