There are dozens of talented 99's in MN and I'm guessing most would prefer the topic be kept at that.
Now, if you want to identify the bottom (5) 99's, that's a different story. Simply tell HF101 Jr. to take a look at his line mates.

There are too many good 99's to count in the State. You could form 2 or even 3 elite level teams from the metro area with a few kids from up north and compete anywhere. Lakeville and Edina probably have the highest concentration of top 99's between the Machine and Blades, but Maple Grove, Prior Lake, Wayzata and EP also have many top kids. Hermantown up north as well. The problem (or benefit, depending on your viewpoint) is that the kids are spread fairly thin across many teams now. Even the Orange is seeing a few chinks in the armour. It's even thinner as the kids get younger. The northern metro kids in particular aren't flocking to MM nearly as much anymore. You get past the 2000 Machine team - which is excellent - and the Orange may not even have the best team in the state at any one age level - let alone the country.

Think the parity talk is way overblown. The Blades and Machine are clearly waaaay more talented at the 01 & 02 level than any other team around. 02 Euro is close, but they are nowwhere near as talented as Machine or Blades. Looks like the blades have kind of cornered the market at the 03 level, but Machine & Miracle Gold seem to be in the same league at least. 04's too early too tell. I have kids spread out from 95's to 03's and have seen every age level and their are not too many other teams that can play with Blades or Machine. Some exceptions...00 Blades seem on the decline...but the 2000 Orange is leaps and bounds beyond anyone around here. 01s & 02s could go either way...talented kids on both teams. Doesn't mean there are not good players around the metro, but it's tough to compete with a team that has 12-15 talented kids, when a legacy or bauer vapor or LSS might only have 2-5 standouts.

but there are only about 7 that have NHL chances
