Tom Novak with the game winner again tonight against SSM, which begs the question, what can't this kid do? Should be fun to watch him develop even more these next couple years!

He's lucky he got the chance (the missed 'penalty shot'), but luck is what makes hockey worth watching!

He found a way to get er done - again - in spite of not having his strongest outing of the season. Very nice player.

I'd say it's tough to say that. He had a very nice game, just didn't look like many others given the level of competition he was playing against, which was true of the whole team the whole night.
He was without his two best teammates tonight and had plenty of good moments, simply wasn't able to score until the end.

Which two didn't play and why were they missing?

Versich has been out the last three games with some injury.
I didn't see Dougherty on the ice all night, maybe I'm just blind, not sure.

A couple players stepped up and played a great game though.

All I know is this kid has worked his tail off to become the player he is - love to see kids rewarded for putting in the time to get better..

Dougherty was out sick. BTW STA rolled 4 lines in regulation- I think singling out 1 player as one of his best teammates is slighting the whole team.

My comment wasn't to slight anyone on the team; it was in response to someone saying Novak didn't have a good night...

Novak and Versich play very well together and it has definitely been different without him. The defense stepped up, but having one of the best defensive players in the state on your team and missing him affects everyone. Schmidt definitely had a shut down performance last night.

It was a great game to watch and Novak is a great individual player.
